Open with a 98% chance of getting unattractive furniture but 2% chance of getting furniture worth several mil, or sell ASAP before Halloween comes around again?

Open it. Well, furnitures are worth some now. Maybe it not must be price of box, but at least something will be from it. Bellhop is currently best item you can get from Prize Boxes, so it's worth a try.

There are two ingredients to this question.
Timing: It makes sense that prices fall at Halloween, when the market is flooded. And probably there is a "shoulder season" around this time, when prices are depressed. So when are prices highest? Spring? Summer? I don't know, but someone probably does.
Open vs. sell: Should you sell the box, open the box and sell the items, or open the box and keep the items? It all comes down to whether you value these things more than other players. We can't tell you; only you can answer that. But I will point out that some players enjoy the "gambling" aspect of the act of opening of the box. So don't ignore that.
