I only really get to play SK at night, right about when my parents call me down to wash the dishes. I have been logged out many times due to inactivity, and I wonder if using the /afk chat command would extend the time it takes for it to log me out. (BTW, what is the idling time limit?)
Does /afk help?
Idling time limit is 15 minutes.
And unfortunately putting a cashew on the attack button does not count as a way to bypass the afk counter.
Only way to stay logged in for 15 minutes+ would be to set up some sort of random button pressing machine, or, in other words, let a hamster do its thang on your keyboard.
Or anything that moves really.
Set up a one button macro that pesses "ESC". Not sure if macros "toggle" though if they did, you can at least go afk knowing escape is being mashed lol
the /afk is great whenever something happens to you and will stay like that until you log off.
take this situation for example
It's only useful if you are gone for a SHORT amount of time, and would like to notify every person who messages you that you are currently unavailable.
Oh, and it doesn't extend the auto-log off timer :/
At least in the Clockworks (I don't know about Haven), you can definitely weigh down a movement key, run into a wall, and stay logged in indefinitely. Three Rings, I hope that this doesn't count as a macro device or other kind of cheating.
Bopp - I have tried that technique and ended up logged out. :( maybe my weight slipped, though, hmm.
Also /afk seems to be pretty useful if you're alt-tabbing a lot while idling in Haven but not completely afk. I always forget about it, personally, but if I'm doodling or something while I'm watching auctions, I can see where it'd be useful.
One time i got my knight to run against a wall for half an hour by putting a weight on one of my arrow keys, and i didn't get booted off.
InB4 fix
Ah, yes, I tried it in Haven and it logged me out.
But in the clockworks you say? Ill give it a go.
I've done it in emberlight and it didn't work.
I once made a key weight that fits a key perfectly for the sole purpose of staying online. You could call it cheating, sorts of, but then again it's hardware and not software so it's ok, right?
As for using the away command, it's superb for auto-answering people. Just type /afk No.
If you play via Steam, pulling up the Steam Overlay (Shift+Tab) appears to prevent idle disconnect.

Calling it.
It does not extend the timer, at least to my knowledge.
The idling time limit is probably 10-15 minutes.
