Sooo, I come from an ancient time and after looking around the game for a couple of days I still have a couple of questions, mostly about ways to adapt to the new mechanics.

1) What's the best place to farm Radiant Crystals/Crowns/Anything worth the effort? Is it still vanavanavanavanatillyoudie or are there any valid alternatives?

2) Other than food is there another viable way to level up pets? Because honestly I burned down my whole dark matter stack rounding at around 2k and my pet is still only lvl 30, considering the crafting price increase for food I don't think I'll be able to afford feeding him for much longer, but the heat he gets from dungeon runs is pitiful to say the least.

3) Is there gonna be another Obsidian thing event? I really want that Vortex bomb that poisons stuff, it'd be the perfect addition to my collection seeing as I don't have neither a VV nor a GraviElec Vortex.

4) Are rank-up-orbs droppable? Can you get them from running through the clockworks or can I only get them from Depot?

5) Any chance shard bombs will be revamped? Last time I checked they were garbage.

6) What's the gunner update everyone's talking about?

You gonna get told to read the wiki+Google this and you totally should, but I like typing so here goes.

1.) Play as many depth 27/28 levels with as many prize boxes as you can to maximize radiants. Arenas at depth 7 will maximize raw crowns per time spent. Everything is a valid alternative if all you require is crowns, as you will always profit and staying happy with the game typically involves you playing more of it for longer, increasing your payouts.

2.) 3 and 4 star materials are far too common not to be fed to sprites, and when fed in huge numbers are the way to go provided you have time to spare and you should. Focus first on crafting all necessary foods, then on power leveling through levels 75 to 105.

3.) Recently, events have been coming much faster than ever before. I would count on obsidian weaponry coming out sooner or later, and I would predict around Halloween, with a large degree of uncertainty.

4.) Orbs of alchemy, which I presume is what you mean, drop from boxes along with fire crystals. Basically:
Stratum 1: bad orbs of alchemy.
Stratum 2: 2-3* orbs of alchemy.
Stratum 3: 3-4* orbs of alchemy.
Stratum 4: 4-5* orbs of alchemy.
Stratum 5/6: GO BACK TO T2 YOU SCUM ONLY 5* ETERNAL ORBS LIVE HERE

Where the whole thing feels like more of a continuum. For instance, right before T3, I can sometimes find a 5* orb of worthlessness, but at the start of stratum 4, I'm less likely.

5.) I'd say that eventually, the shard bombs will be changed for the better. There are just too many people that want it, and the bombs are just too poor for it not to happen, and it's too good of a decision for them not to eventually stumble into it. I have the feeling like SEGA will do some sort of a bomb redux sooner or later, and that that is when it will happen. When exactly? Give or take a few years, but if they go through with the gunner update, bombers are going to really need a breath of life or two.

6.) Prior to Nick leaving, he stated that last November, new guns would be arriving. 24 new guns, to be exact. Since then, we have had no new permanent ("actual") content updates, and the gunner update was the last permanent content update that anyone vaguely resembling a developer has spoken of. There have been a large number of discussions regarding the new guns and the update in general, and people's expectations of the actual update are now sky-high to the point of expecting far more than guns. This one you should really really Google, because there is too much information for me to share, and too many spoilers that I cannot post about on the official forums.

1) There is that one thing that the game is supposed to be based around. Y'know, starts with an "A". Rightmost category on the Mission Interface (No, not the "X" button).

2) You didn't know you can do that?
It's a viable alternative. Doesn't heat as fast as Pet Food, but still. Just like the "A" thing I mentioned earlier.

3) Yeah, sure. Sooner or later, though.

4) Orbs do come as drops, although as their category name implies, they are rare drops. Despite the very common drop rates of 2* Fire Crystals leaving you with more crystals than you could ever possibly need (mandatorily bound and unsellable, mind you).

5) Nope.

6) Yeah, pretty much only new weapons and armor. It's been a year, by the way.

Lancer Knightz mission data offers detailed, reliable data on mission crown payouts. They don't have much data on radiants yet, though.

Always pick up the biggest yellow, red, or purple mineral. Use it to make sprite food. Trade that food for the food you want. It helps if you're in an active guild with other knights leveling up their sprites.

Read the wiki page "Shroud of the Apocrea", to learn when the event has happened in the past. Then try to guess when it will happen again. That's all we know.

4) Are rank-up-orbs droppable? Can you get them from running through the clockworks or can I only get them from Depot?

Read the wiki page "Rarity". The default way is to buy them, because it's easier to find the crowns to buy them, than it is to find them themselves. If you insist on finding them, then you are slowing yourself down for no reason.

5) Any chance shard bombs will be revamped? Last time I checked they were garbage.

I don't know when last you checked, but there have been extremely powerful and easy-to-use bombs in the game for multiple years (Dark Briar Barrage, Dark Retribution, etc.).

6) What's the gunner update everyone's talking about?

Try searching Google for something like "gunner update site:forums.spiralknights.com". You will find many threads.

Ok, orbs can drop (elite gives best chance, but still quite low). Gunner update is not important atm, but youll hear about it if it does gain significance.

For rads, vana is your go to place (hop in with friends at d26 or 27). The only thing that beats vana with rads is a double D27 D28 arena in arcade which is quite rare (usually garbage compound levels).

And the general rule of thumb is, for pets, feed them 4/5* mats until level 50, then switch to pet food only.

You can play arcade and hope for treasure vault, arena or danger rooms in depth 26~28. There should be enough rads there.

You can buy some from me, I can sell them at a reasonable price or you can just feed the mask with ecto drops and shards like I do.

I got the hentai bomb and never done apocrea again since I already have sentenza and achron, and yes, there should be another event just around the corner.

You can get them in the treasure boxes, red ones have a good chance of dropping them but I won't bank on ranking up with just the looted orbs.

5) Any chance shard bombs will be revamped? Last time I checked they were garbage.

They are pretty good last time I checked, 3* salt bomb did okay in RJP but definately not dark retribution. I see no reasons to revamp it.

Hope you like endless pointless grinding!

Welcome back! The game has gotten SO MUCH worse since you left

1. Ya any post depth 26 floor will at most times yield radiants. Do as many arenas and danger rooms as you can. You could grind vana if you like but the arcade pays out better when it comes to rarities and mats. Also if you want A LOT of radiants fast do Shadow Lairs, most notable UFSC (Ultimate Firestorm Citadel). You'll get the most there

2. UH......... Im sorry you wasted all your minerals making low level food. As pet food goes you need 125 5* and 4* food. 20 each of 3* food. Up until Lvl 50 you only need preferred food to lvl them up so use 5* mats instead. If you want to lvl slowly from lvl 50 and up continue using mats and only make 25 5* and 4* preferred food.

3. Dont waste your time getting the poison vortex bomb, it sucks. It sucks as much as graviton vortex. The only vortex worth getting is Electron vortex because honestly when you have a bomb that clumps all the enemies together the worst thing the same bomb could do is blow them apart when it explodes. Electron Vortex doesn't do this thanks to its shock effect. As for the other Obsidian weapons the sword is a good get and the gun seems to be too from what i see others using it. But yes there will be another one eventually.

4. Ya there are plenty of places to get orbs. Again arenas and danger rooms as much as possible. But yeah more grinding. If you really want the best places to find them seriously ask FLowchart, he grinds them all the time and know the best missions to speed that along.

5. No they will always be as they are now. The point of bombs is to be AOE, hence the change to their current state.

6. Dont worry about it. I dont how long ago you played but having returned the first thing you should notice is the core is still not open. Just know that one day there is supposed to be some update making gunning more viable, which is really not necessary cause players who actually know how to gun (and there are VERY FEW of them) are amazing already. But if you ask me they are completely abandoning the gunner update as a whole and slowly introducing new guns through events and what not. At least all current evidence points to that since the last couple events and sales have featured new guns. People in this game are too stupid to connect the dots.

Also dont know how old of a player you are but Tortodrones are back! Its another special event featuring new shields and guns. If you are now wondering "WTF is a Tortodrone?" it was a really difficult enemy from back in the beta days. They finally brought them back and have added another thing for you to grind. Good luck man and hope you have fun cause this game nowadays lacks that in excess. Hopefully that wont be your experience.
