I'm not really sure how many people actually know that game.
It's a really old game released back in 2000 on the Playstation 1, so it shouldn't be that known.
Though, when I looked at these new promos one of them just reminded me of that game.
It's the (http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538502649124813491/2E57A95CB0DCE8BCE...)Wind-Up key, and I'm not sure where the devs got the idea but there might be a chance that it actually might be a reference to that game.
You can see that thing in action here on Youtube = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4PoohHBMfo&feature=youtu.be&t=8m40s .
That game basically is all about these keys, even the loading-scene shows it (at 9:33 in the video).

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

the wind-up key was actually a suggestion from the forums. had very good reception, too.
that being said, <0.005% chance of getting one is still ridiculous.

The concept of a wind up key

The concept of a wind up key has been around long before Alundra has. While it's possible the devs were inspired by the game, there's dozens of other places that it could've come from, too.

The game takes place in the "Clockworks"; you can't take 2 steps without being beaten over the head with the spinning gears motif.

Seriously?

Wind-up keys are used in real life toys, so rather nothing referencing.

Did you know? The Triforce is actually a reference to The Illuminati.

But it's just a theory.

A GAME THEORY.
