This isn't some internet forum site

This is an article from Gamasutra, a professional website for those in the BUSINESS of making games, these people don't just play games like us, they make them, and on this site they talk about various aspects of game development and balance happens to be one of them

Spiral knights fans will be whiny even when they first saw the word balance in the title. You can't fix what's already broken. I mean, you might have a shot at success, but pretty sure we know Three Rings by now.

I'm sure they are very credible. But what do they actually do to learn about balance?

@Fehzor

They make mistakes, that's how everyone learns.

EDIT:Fake or real doesn't matter to me, that article makes sense and that's all I care about. Also, does this have anything to do with these experts showing pride in their articles? Because that's the one aspect I hate about these articles.

They didn't seem to cite or mention any of their own mistakes, unless I missed it.

Just saying that I've seen a lot of these "professional" articles, and that the anecdotal evidence is real.

Oh! That one "professional" website that got their support from Intel pulled because of their un-professional-ness. Good going. Really super.

highly debatable

Your assertion, that Intel dropped advertising on Gamasutra due to "unprofessionalness", is highly debatable. Another interpretation is that Intel didn't want to offend many of its customers (even the ones who hold highly offensive views themselves).

Woah! Let's not head down this rabbit hole anywhere on this forum. It is an old blood feud with a lot of innocent people caught in the middle.

But isn't OOO/Sega in the business of making games? If that's the criteria for understanding balance in video games why is Gamasutras opinion greater than OOOs?

Are we talking about PVE or PVP balance? Balancing PVP for PVE game is a difficult task that I don't think OOO has the person-power to handle.

The source of a message

The source of a message shouldn't affect your reaction to it's content, to change your view of a message just because of the mouth speaking it is wrong.

Suppose you get a whole bunch of people together, and they all say the same thing in the same way, and you know this thing that they say is true (something easy like 2+2=4). To proclaim that some are lying and some are telling the truth based on the source of the words is discriminatory and to do so means you are close-minded.

True, true. Pressured into dropping advertising is probably a better term.
However, would a professional site anger enough people to the point where they decide they want someone to cut ads on that particular site?
I guess it's a bit silly asking questions around this at all, as it seems we can hardly know anything for sure, and quite frankly I don't think I care enough about the topic to want to dig much deeper. Still couldn't resist posting, though.

Painting with black and white never goes out of style, does it.

Also, Three Rings are in the business of making games, in case you forgot.
