Sigh... Armor thread [Best]

Hey there. I'm not new to SK, but haven't played in many moons, and am looking for the kind of set that is balanced between Gun/Sword Damage (I prioritize Sword, Guns irritate me), but with decent resist/health and bomb damage/CTR. Money isn't an issue until it comes to overpriced UV's. I wouldl ike some suggestions.

Helm:
Armor:
Shield:
Weapons 1-4
Trinkets: (optional)
Pet:

I just want it, in general, to prioritize damage. I am not a turtle. My favorite kinds of armor are Sword CTR, Damage increase, and ASI, and movement speed increases. Black Cat/Chaos is interesting and seems like the kind of way I like to play. Thanks, and have fun.

[EDIT]
Forgive forgive, totally forgot. The set I created on my own is below, and I'd like suggestions to make it the best it can possibly be before UV's, and then what UV's I should craft for...

Black Kat Cowl
Chaos Cloak
Barbarous Thorn Shield/Volcanic Plate (Which is more useful for maximizing damage but not becoming a walking status ailment)
Acheron
Voltedge (Is this the strongest? If not Glacius/Combuster, but I can't hit Vanaduke with Combust from what I remember)
Barb Thorn Blade/Bomb/Other Gun (Help)
Blitz Needle/Other gun (Help)

Your current set is all fine. I recommend Combuster over Voltedge because reasons, but WRH is alsoa decent choice. Since you seem to be investing in a lot of stuff, I recommend getting a Final Flourish while you're at it. Your Barbarous Thorn Shield is not a very good choice in this loadout since you have a ton of damage already. Swiftstrike is ideal here if you don't fancy shield defence. If you do, VPS is fine. Also consider Grey Owlite Shield and Crest of Almire - both are really good shields.

If you consider bombs, Dark Retribution, Dark Briar Barrage, and the haze bombs are all great. An Electron Vortex in particular will do well with the rest of your gear, seeing how you like Brandishes very much.

If you want to invest in UVs, I recommend CTR on your Brandishes first of all. CTR Med UVs usually cost no more than about 100-120k CR on the Auction House and are thus quite easy to get. In fact, CTR is great on all your weapons other than BTB/FF, which should have ASI. After that, you probably want Fire resistance on your gear because Firestorm Citadel.

My detailed sword guide covers all of this in its Armor section, by the way.

Basically you want Black Kat with UVs for freeze, shock, and fire. If you can't get Black Kat, then go for Chaos with UVs for freeze, shock, and fire. If that seems too dangerous, then go for some combination of Vog Cub, Skolver, and Snarbolax with UVs for freeze, shock, and fire.

In weapons, Combuster and Acheron are obvious choices --- very powerful and very easy. Also look at Final Flourish / Barbarous Thorn Blade. Also look at Warmaster Rocket Hammer, as Krakob said. It is much harder to use, but very powerful. My guide gives you ideas about how to choose guns and bombs too. I don't know why you're concerned with hitting Vanaduke with Combuster, when you plan to have Blitz Needle too. Just Blitz him.

I am not a turtle.

Then don't wear the following:
Ancient Plate Helm
Ancient Plate Armor [+hoptimer accessory]
Grand Tortoise
Gorgofist, Grand Tortofist, Omega Tortofist, and Savage Tortofist
True Love Locket x2
Seraphynx (Black Kat)

Focus on armor in this order-

#1. Full Black kat/chaos w/ UVs for shock/fire/ice = most likely go to set for normal content
#2. Vog/Seerus/other class armor that resists fire/shock/merc demo = resist whisps and complement black kat/chaos

----You're about 95% done at this point---

#3. Dragon scale set = C42 set + resist hypothetical level full of poison whisps
#4. Some specialist sets and items that work wonders against weird stuff like margrel and UFSC; i.e. radiant silvermail, divine set

---This is about the point where costume armor becomes a much higher priority than regular armor---

#5. Those weird other sets, such that you have sets to resist any level and combination of existing status effects
#6. Plate armor and other sets that maximize defense, just in case the devs go nuts and make plate OP or something.
#7. Some set with an absurd amount of stun resistance, because stun whisps could hypothetically become a reality
#8. Royal jelly set, preferably with sleep max.

You can stop wherever you feel comfortable and are succeeding because that's really about what matters here. The bulk of people either stop on one of the first 4 steps, occasionally prioritizing 4 before 3, or try to go all out because by god they're going to play this game forever and they'd best be prepared for when Sega Networks decides to make Spiral Knights their main focus, introducing god knows what into the equation.
