I get graphical glitches like that all the time. Usually they make the game completely unplayable, but sometimes I get a silly one like this.
The Apocrean aura in particular seems to make my graphics card burst into tears/flames.

Yep, the Apocrean aura I agree is truly the most trashy piece of particle effect-spewing junk that ever happened to Cradle. As if the "offscreen persistant footsteps" wasn't bad enough, when you hang in a busy Haven for a bit, when you decide to move, the ugly blotchyness from 3 or 4 grindaholics' garbs gunks up the floor.

The Apocrean Aura glitch is obvs deliberate. Everyone knows the core is actually only 5 feet below Haven, with the Arcade all happening inside a computer simulation.
._. just how big is the sceen which you are playing on...
As for the printscreen it's most likely a graphical glitch
