So I'm coming back to the game after a couple of years (and nearly 300 hours both pre and post Steam add) and am stuck with the same question I've had since I dropped the game for a while. Why in the world can we not take our lower crystals and make the higher ones out of them. Considering you can split One higher tier crystal into 5 of the next tier down, why cant we take 5 and make 1? It's baffling to me considering the system is technically called "Alchemy"

It would still be a bit of a grind fest when you have to go and find more low tier crystals since you WILL inevitably run out of them.

There's a bit of an awkward change that happened in the past. It used to be that radiant fire crystals were common and shinings were rare. People demanded downgrade recipes and soon enough we got them. Problem is... Then Three Rings changed up drop tables for radiants, making that downgrade recipe not really all that helpful anymore.
Historically it makes sense, but right now it doesn't really make sense.
Yes but then the game wouldn't be a pay2win grindfest at the end.
