A friend of mine introduced me to the game, though he would be pretty mad to know that the almirian crusader armor he spent CE revives (this is before SoL) on is worse than my valkyrie mail.
how did you discover spiral knights?
I found this game since I played Slime Rancher and heard Nick previously worked on this game. So I came and checked it out using Steam.
Back in 2013, around thanksgiving I believe, my bro was playing SK after dinner. I got curious, popped on for a little while, and have been active ever since.
Fun Fact: I have had many characters that I have played on, deleted, and moved one from: Heavy-Destoyer, Mercual (name changed Stormguardio), Sarjawtourguide (name change Merc-the-monsta), Suanencamferes (name change Vilu-Daskar), and my current one Rillight.
Also my bro is named Retrofit in-game
Anyways, just thought it would be fun to share this info about me!

Come to think of it, I really can't remember. If I had to say anything it was probably just trolling through the free games on Steam and SK just happened to catch my eye. Likely due to the top down Zelda-esque feel that I was getting from the trailers. But I don't really remember how I found it, earliest memories I had was picking the terrible looking proto armor and playing through the crash site. This game is quite the gem. It does have flaws, but there's still a lot of good stuff in the game which always causes me to come back to it at times.
I happen to be very fond of browser games when i was younger. So i searched up games on websites such as Miniclip, Newgrounds, Agame, Kongregrate, Armor Games and so on. One day,i stumbled upon an advertisement for Spiral Knights, i thought it looked interesting, so why not give it a shot ya know? Surprisingly, it was loads of fun, the aspects of the game were just an eye candy. Till this day, i'm still playing Spiral Knights (Well, once in awhile when there's new updates.)
However it is my dad found it (back in 2011 I was still a fetus-child and did not go searching for games on my own), sometime in August 2011, and I saw him playing it and just wanted to try it. Still come around periodically even though my whole family abandoned the game.
Through the team fortress 2 promotion back in 2011
I'm 90% sure I found Spiral Knights in a random search for free online games. At some point all the way back between 2012-2014. I'd basically stopped playing in 2016-early 2017. A few months ago I tried to get some friends into it, since they were looking for a game to play and none of them are really gamers. I got sucked back in since then.
In grade school I was given an assignment to write a report on the King Arthur legend. While doing research I accidentally looked for 'knights of the spiral table' instead of 'knights of the round table'. I discovered the game and it became my drug. Today it is the most nostalgiac part of my teenage years, and I couldn't care less the state of the game as long as I can continue to enjoy it.
A friend of mine followed everything Sega related like it was his religion. He had been playing this game since β and invited the squad to play it at release. We played it for about a month before quitting. A year later, I returned to play it alone and found a great community, so I stuck around. Been here ever since.
I joined back at Steam release. I only had a Mac computer at that time and Steam had just been released on Mac. Needless to say, the list of games that I could play was tiny, and not having much money to spend on games at the time, I immediately went to the Free to Play section. Of the 6 or so games on there, Spiral Knights was one of - if not the only - Mac compatible games. Started it then, played on and off until summer of 2013 when I really took the game on, and then mist fees disappeared and I played the game pretty much as my primary game.
my bf and i were trying to find a game we can play together (which is hard because i have a mac and he as windows) and pretty much tried every game on steam that looked appealing to the both of us (which was like... 5 games lol). spiral knights was one of them and 4 years later we are still playing!
@Gianor LOL
Wow im glad someone asked this. I remember all so clear, i had joined Steam somewhere arround october 2013, because i was going to join a friend in another game. He told me how i could pay for games in Steam and get good discounts and stuff, but i wasn't very interested in buying games online so i used Steam to find free to play games.
I played a couple of f2p games (in the span of 3 months) before starting to play SK and i was completly catched by it. The art was amazing like something i've never seen, there was a nice a lore, and i could run the game with my toaster PC!! It was for me the perfect rpg game and it still is my favorite rpg... there was still one thing missing: friends. I tried to convince my friends to play SK but all of them already played other games and didn't had time for it.
Not soon after i gave up on SK, and went back to play other games i played at the time (single player games). I did this 2 times, at the 3rd time i stayed and never let go SK again, i had met people online and made friends in the game. It was the first time i befriended people in a game and until then the idea of having online friends was a bit odd to me, but they were the best thing that ever happend to me in this game. If it wasn't for them, my experience with this game wouldn't have been the same without them.
I realize now i may have digressed a bit from the main subject so i'll just stop here... (sowwy >~<)
Around August 2011, I checked out miniclip because I haven't gone to the site in a few years or so. I saw an SK ad, so I checked it out.

waiiit a second. You can change the dimensions and length of the text input box?
Technology.
I wish I had this when I made walls of text.
My best friend used to play this game frequently back in 2011. I remember he would be at the auction house and when I looked into the screen it would all seem really complicated and I would tell him to switch his laptop off so we could go outside and play. I later ended up checking out the game, and I've loved it ever since. I don't play it now, but I was a regular player till 2016.
I never discovered the game I've just always played it.
back in 2011 i saw a former close friend of mine post some screen shots of sk he used to mention a few times on his facebook, when i saw the screen shots i liked the character designs and decided to play sk to troll him because i used to join almost any game i could to play with him and to be a troll. after i played it i was blown away to find another hack and slash rpg in years instead a table turn or point and click game (i wasnt aware of much pc games back then). after that i was hooked to the game and kept playing it to this day except i couldnt play in late 2015 to late 2016 because my adapter cord broke at the time. i will still continue to play this game as long as i can!
Back when Youtube had those ugly square ads in the corner, SK popped up a couple of times. I was so young...
True answer: I discovered it through a review on Ars Technica (a technology web site) soon after the game launched.
False answer: I found it by searching Google for something like "Bopp site:forums.spiralknights.com", then went back in time to make those posts. Later I started playing. My curiosity was piqued, so I got the idea to search Google for something like "Bopp site:forums.spiralknights.com".
