What's with the constant maintenance restarts?

This seems to be happening on a daily fasion, I remember this was not the case last time I played for an extended period of time but now we get a server restart practically every day, what's going on?
I don't have any insider knowledge about what's happening now, but in the old days the servers were rebooted every morning at 5:00.
