Mixing It Up With New Weapons

Since the game seems to finally be coming back to life and getting more frequent changes, now is the perfect time for some new ideas for the future.
I have a ton of ideas for changes and new additions to the game. So as to not make one huge thread about many things, I will try to post regularly in the near future with one topic every time.

The first addition I would like to discuss is weapon variety.

I think we all want new weapons, but I realized that as long as we are locked into four damage types (if we include normal), we are prone to having weapons that are objectively better than others and render them obsolete pretty quickly. If a sword deals elemental damage, it has to compete with the elemental brandishes in every aspect since they are good/bad against the same enemies.

The solution I came up with is non-normal mixed-damage weapons.

A specific example I came up with is the Almirian Spear:
Just as we have the pre-corruption armor set and shield of the Almirian Crusaders, we can complete the set with their spear that deals elemental + piercing damage. This means it's good against fiends and undead, neutral against beasts and constructs, and bad against gremlins and slimes.
This is a good example of the use of the variety mixed damage introduces, as it makes those spears a weapon made to fight the darkness.

Mixed damage adds the benefit of having a wide variety without the downside of adding a new damage type into the game, and it can help new weapons (or reworked weapons, if needed) to feel refreshing and unique.

It is worth noting that some number adjustment will probably be required due to the way mixed damage works in Spiral Knights, but I don't personally think that should pose much of an issue.

What do you guys think of this concept? Do you have suggestions for new mixed weapons of your own (or weapons that should be reworked into ones)?

Share your thoughts and feedback! They help me solidify my ideas and come up with new ones.
