Thoughts on the Gun puppy change.

Well, I must say that the recent Gun Puppy change, while annoying, didn't make them THAT much harder but, saying that, even though this can be barely a change, it can be the most deadly scenario that could happen in an Arena match.

Like, for example:

The wave of 8 Gun puppies spawn and you still have 2 lumbers, or perhaps two Alpha Wolvers on your hands and only that tiny corner space to fight in, chances are you're going to alert the two Gun puppies closet to said corner, dodging that bullet fire while dealing with Alpha Wolvers or Lumbers in that tiny space is going to be very, very difficult, so your only options are to, run away from them to gain momentum back thus waking up the whole room, or tanking through damage and getting rid of them.

See what I mean by this change can be really deadly or absolutely no change at all?

Planning and forethought

While I am well aware that things don't always go as planned, the situation you described can be avoided with relative ease. Just make sure that you kill whatever is most dangerous to your play vs Gun Puppies and leave the other wave alive. Barring richots (damn you Alchemer line!) it should be easy enough to whittle each wave down to an individual, so you never have 2 to deal with. If you've counted your waves correctly, it should also be safe to kill that last mob, and then turn to the Puppies. Also, you can run to a different corner away from the mob while its busy with the death animation. The puppies only spawn after that's done, so you can get away without aggroing anything. This can buy you a lot of time with a Lumber or Jelly (not so much with an Alpha Wolver)

The eight gun puppies are

The eight gun puppies are ALWAYS spawned after you kill the healer/monster combo that spawn top right/bottom left. Kill everything else before you finish them off and you'll never find yourself in this situation ;)

Honestly, it's often easier,

Honestly, it's often easier, if you still have survivors from a previous wave, to kill the Gunpuppies instead, particularly if it's an Alpha Wolver. Those guys teleport and dash all over the place, but can't really do much to you if you're mobile. Puppies just sit there and shoot, and are much easier to just focus down.

What the people above

What the people above said.

The most dangerous scenario is on arenas, but if you know how to manipulate the mobs spawn (not killing the whole healer+monster combo before you are ready in a corner) is a walk in the park

I find funny how new people is the quickest to go crying on the forums "Ish not faaaaaiiir" when we get a patch to make the game a bit more challenging.

I think you guys

I think you guys misunderstood, I wasn't asking for help in scenario's like this, it was just an example.

And @Jigokunoinu, that may be true, but usually there are 2 waves of the healers/tough mob combo that spawn at possibly different times, and being unable to distinguish which wave from which can make the Gun puppies spawn before you've finished off all the others.

I agree that it is more

I agree that it is more challenging than before, but after going over and over arenas through the week-end, I must admit I quite like the fact that you cannot anymore kill each puppy in turn by just approaching it from behind (you still can but at least a few bullets will be shot...).

I actually didn't notice too

I actually didn't notice too much of a change in difficulty. I can still get up pretty close to a gun puppy before triggering it, at which point my Avenger tears them apart rather quickly. :)

This Gun Puppies that shoot

This Gun Puppies that shoot missiles in tier 3, and even more specifically stratum 6, have become extremely difficult to deal with. In most situations it's very hard to get close to them without taking a hit, or to run away as the missiles travel faster than you can run. A bad draw in a T3 arena will send a myriad of lightning-fast heat-seeking missiles on you than will break any shield with two direct hits.

I'm not commenting on whether it's good or bad, but it's definitely hard.
