Does the game have to download each time you play it? I had it downloaded, then tried to change my screen to fullscreen and it crashed, and it made me redownload again... I'm just curious if this is only because I crashed or if it is something that you have to do each time you load the game up... Thanks!

No it should not have to download every time. If you're getting a fullscreen crash please go through the Technical Help Sticky. If that does not help please post in the Technical Help Forums

Also, you can download the game client if you have issues with the game redownloading constantly.
