Some lockdown suggestions that would make lockdown more fun and more competitive which would make OOO more money!

A new lockdown queue option of "arranged teams". A player could create their own lockdown waiting room where they would be able to invite friends and queue up as a team. This would allow people who are not In the same guild to play as a team which would make lockdown more competetive which would cause players to buy more ce to get better gear for this.

Another great option would be to have the option to "wager" ce and if the other team accepted the wager both teams would compete to win the combined prize. It would also be nice to see ce reviving removed from wager games as there really is no point of having them if the winner will be spending the whole reward reviving for it. Three rings could take 5% of the wager or something so they could still make bank off wagers without CE revives to discourage people from wagering.... lol

I think it would be awesome to have some sort of "team roster" for the arranged team games which appeared on an "Arranged Team" leaderboard. You could make it cost like 500 energy to create a team (or maybe less). We could pick our team name and a captain would be able to add and remove members like a guild. Then on the leaderboards the team names would show up after playing arranged team games. It would also be nice to have a competitive leaderboard for this (see below).

Lastly, I think most of us would love to see "actual" Leaderboards for lockdown where you GAIN points for a win and LOSE points for a loss.
It could even be as simple as when you win you get +100 and when you lose you lose [how many points less than 100 you got]. So if your team got +90 you would lose 10 points and gain none. If your team got +50 you would lose 50 points and gain none. There could even be a seperate leaderboard for "casual" and "competitive" ranking. One leaderboard would be the old way, +points win or lose and the other one would be + and - points depending on win or loss and every game you play could contribute to both leaderboards. You could even make an option "I do not wish to be ranked on the competitive leaderboards" if you think that would be needed.

Why should OOO put these updates through? It would create EXTREME competition in lockdown which makes people buy CE like mad to get better gear. I seriously can't think of anything people blow more CE on than LD gear...

Custom LD matches have been suggested a couple times. You might want to review the discussion on the previous threads and see if you can address some of the concerns raised.

Ya, iv would love that, cuz its so annoying to get people in the guild to organize for a game, or sometimes not enough people are even on... custom teams would be so fun as it would put teams with great players together in one game, and those are always the most fun =D

Yeah I was thinking we could

Yeah I was thinking we could even have a leaderboard for arranged teams where you lost points for losing games of LD and gained points for winning. So we could see a bit better who is actually the "top"

I really want Lockdown to go competitive.
Im really competitive :P

Also, I think that to encourage players to reach the leaderboards, The members of the top teams on the leaderboard should get this:
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Super_Brawl_Crown

It would expire when the team loses their position as #1.

We were promised this crown

We were promised this crown for the number one player in King Krogmos coliseum when blast network came out.
Never happened.

They didn't mention it for LD.

Lol...

This was also listen in the patch notes:

"With his formal invitation to the Spiral Knights to join the Coliseum, Krogmo has declared that that he would devote the entire season to new Coliseum events!"

We got LD half a year later and nothing else.

Not a fan of wagering I'm afraid, but everything else I support.

I'm glad Chris made this

I'm glad Chris made this thread so this HIGHLY SUPPORTED idea gets pushed

Everyone post in Chris' thread, get enough pages to actually get an admin to LOOK at it. I swear, I don't even think they post in this board for legal reasons.

Sounds good. But theres the

Sounds good. But theres the problem of making more tiers in lockdown. The LD playerbase would get split into casual and competitive. T1 is not the favorite tier of most LD players, and splitting the already low number of players into two will just make waiting time even longer.

Just using that as a point, you might face lack of numbers on both sides of lockdown to competitively play.

The other problem, not as important as the previous one, is the eventualy imbalance in teams. Everyone wants to win. The less skilled players would get pushed in teams together, and the skilled will be in one team. The it all boils down to I don't like this person, so I'll play against/not play on his team.

Why a captain? That would just be a lightning rod for accusatons. Just have a team, perhaps a team name. No need for captains.

i think we'd see a nice rise in LD matches with this implemented. theres plenty of people on my friends list that i dont get to play with much simply because they are not in my guild, and we try the join-at-the-same-time fiasco to try to play together which of course does not always work. public matches may take a heavy hit though.

I'd agree, the current rankings show absolutely nothing, except how much you've played over a few days.

I agree with pretty much everything in the OP.

Having set teams to play with, or at least some server recognition of friends lists would be nice... not that I expect it to happen quickly.
It would seem that the devs are working (slowly albeit) to these concepts. I guess if they were to get more money, faster work would come since they could get more hands on the situation... but unfortunately many are leaving due to the sheer slowness with which balance is being made.

Quite a few of my PVP friends are leaving, (least the LD ones) due to the updates as of late. But, I don't want to give up on what's been a nice game.
Anyway, yeah agree with the OP.

Overall good ideas but I do

Overall good ideas but I do have a few concerns.

I can't see arranged teams getting very popular, at most they would probably be played on the same frequency as guild lockdown. It also faces the same problems as guild lockdown due to the difficulty of assembling a team that is all online at the same time. In this case it makes it much harder for a team to play a good number of matches for the leaderboard to mean anything unless you can switch out the members of the team at will. But if it's going to be like that why not just play in guilds?

As for competitive leaderboards I can see a lot of people leaving before the game even starts to avoid losing score, or moving down to lower tiers to have an easier time. In which case this can really hurt the T3 LD population. Unless the competitive rankings are divided by tier of course. It also becomes more unlikely for people to hit play again if they find that there is someone who is really good in their match as they don't want that person randomly affecting the outcome of the game.

There are two main problems with the competitive leaderboard:
1. If we match up people who don't care about the competitive leaderboard with people who do, this can lead to farming and/or rage as people feel the people who aren't in competitive lost the game for them. This devalues the credibility of the competitive leaderboard.

2. Even if we separate the the two types of players, then this will drastically cut into the number of games people can get into and greatly increase the waiting time before a game can start. I mean its not like we don't already have these problems but this will only make it worse.

Overall I think your ideas could work with a larger LD playing population, but as it currently stands I don't think so.

If Lockdown wants to be

If Lockdown wants to be considered competitive, there's going to have to be a lot of re-blancing done first. And better incentives to continue to play it after you crafted the trinkets you want/buy recipes.
