I use Steam and am having the same problem. It was working fine after the patch was installed, I even played through a few levels before I exited out of the game and back on about 15 minutes later. I then had a problem logging in, so I closed the game and exited out of Steam, and launched Steam again. I verified the SK cache files and they were fine. I loaded up SK again and got the same message like the image in the first post of this thread. :(

message seems slightly different from when the steam oopen-id network login system was down a few months ago, but seems like yet another instance of why i would like to UN-STEAM this account. too much stupid middle-ware, wish i had never started playing through Steam and instead played directly through the SK site.
what about character transfer? i started a non-steam account after the previous case of steam open-id network login system failure.

Figured it out i think
I can log on again tonight, something about the update lowered Steam's server cap. Get on bright an early, slots are now reserved XD

i dont get a message
i ran SK like normal today and then when it loads i expected it to say login with steam but it just says username, and password. im looking around for the steam login option but its not there even though i ran this from steam. im not getting any messages or laggy patches the patch loaded and verified like normal. nothing out of the usual just i cant login with steam.

I'm sure SK could find some way to allow people to de-link their accounts from Steam. It'd require creating a username and password on the site, but wouldn't it just trade the "steam:ID#" for a "Username" in the database? I've no clue.
