When I went to train with Rhendon and after I equipped my proto bomb, I checked the de-activated cannon on the right out of curiosity and he started explaining the sword charge attack and stuff. After I closed his text and got near the gate he started explaining the sword charge again (then I blew up his head with the proto bomb).

So yeah, that's all I found so far.
