If memory serves me right, the Prize Wheel would occasionally have a Chroma head that took away one of your pickups (vials, capsules, etc.), but I haven't seen it around in a while. Did this actually exist? Does it still exist? If the answers to those questions are yes and no respectively, when was this removed?

Remember the prize wheel is just an animation/illusion. The prize is actually defined the second you step on the elevator (you can see your crowns increasing before the wheel stops at a coin)
It may as well be there to tease you but not be a real prize.

I don't think I've actually gotten the Chroma myself, but I feel like a guildmate may have once told me it stole a pickup. I can't remember seeing it at all in the Prize Wheel recently, but maybe I'm just not paying close attention to it.

its a "miss".
The chromalisk is intended to not give anything. its like a "lose a turn" on the prize whel.
the KLEPTOLISK monster is the chroma that steals pickups. That monster exists in game. its blue and has a triangular head. It also ate boxes in winterfest.
On the prize wheel, getting a chroma means you do not receive anything.

I swear when the monster pockets were first brought out in 1st half 2012 we were told there was a chance of obtaining them through the prize wheel. I thought this made sense, as it would keep the market for these accessories going while not letting the prize rise too much.
I checked the release notes on the forum and it didn't say this, maybe it did in the in-game mail announcement I read at the time?
Though I've never come across anyone who has obtained one through prize wheel, I'd always thought you could. Maybe I should give up now.
Any other players who were active in 1st half 2012 remember an announcement saying this?

The description of the award also says:
This tricky Chromalisk occasionally sneaks into the Elevator Prize Wheel, and eats a random prize. Landing on him will award the player with nothing.
I've it spinning in the prize wheel recently, but I've never got it.
