Purple Spiral?

I was looking at the wiki on the artifacts page and found one called a purple spiral. I think its suppose to resemble a purple heart like in the army. It said that it was unknown how you get it, so how would the person who made the page know it excists?

Nope it's real.
Only Dogrock and Katmint have it.
It's a special award from OOO.

I can't tell whether you're joking or not. If not, we're going to need some documentation or evidence.

Dogrock and Katmint have it, and if you do use the wiki adding false information can get you in trouble and that page would have been deleted.

Look, I have no particular reason to doubt either of you. But if someone you didn't know showed up to the wiki, adding information that you'd never heard of, with no supporting evidence, then you'd be suspicious too, right? So let's apply that same standard to this issue.
What about "screen shot or it never happened?" And why were they given this award? And when? Throw me a bone here.

There are screenshots.
Lemme go get them.

Great. Now we're getting somewhere. Could some such evidence added to the wiki, please?

How do you even get one of those?
Obviously by going above and beyond the call of duty in order to make a world of Spiral Knights a better place for all. ;-P

Firstly, please do not imply that I falsely add info to the wiki main page space ever again.
The Purple Spiral is a community service award. As far as anyone knows only two have been awarded in the history of Spiral Knights, so there hasn't exactly been a deluge of information on it. The award conditions vary from player to player. I got mine for extended technical help work from when SK was still in Preview into it's launch phase.

"Firstly, please do not imply that I falsely add info to the wiki main page space ever again."
I am now convinced that the information is true, and I'm sorry for casting aspersions on you. However, the best policy is not to trust unsubstantiated material on the wiki (no matter how well-known the editor is), but rather for wiki editors to support their edits with evidence. The more extraordinary the information, the more crucial it is that it be supported.
The text that you just posted would itself be a valuable addition to the wiki, both as supporting evidence and as interesting "color text". Many readers would enjoy it.

I'll consider it. When the artifact first appeared in my game mail it wasn't initially clear what I had done so I was wary of putting up extra details since I wasn't sure exactly how one acquires one of the Purple Spirals.
It's pretty clear now it's a community service award, but outside my path to earning it I'm not 100% sure how someone else would be awarded one. I pulled off a rather unique string of technical help events and other forum goings-on around the time of the Steam launch that can't exactly be replicated. Basically, I'd rather that exceptional folks find their own path to one rather than following an example on the wiki. I'll find a way to strike a medium between flavor text and and telling a story.

I need to find out if Nick is a Ferrari man or Lamborghini man....then I will get my award Lol

I think there's no danger that it'll be interpreted as a "how to get this award" tutorial. If you just wrote that it's a community service award with no fixed route to getting it, and then described what you (one particular recipient) did, it would add quite a bit to the wiki entry, as a little piece of Spiral history.

An example would be out of place imo. The article is about the reward itself, not the people who have it. There's always the possibility of making a separate article about the award holders and how they obtained it, though.
In any case, I copypasted pieces of Dogrock's description into the article. That should cover the reward conditions.
Also hi Rangerwill I see you found my screenshot. :P

Its not the purple spiral that makes me go :O its the echo stones what are they?? how do you get them??

Read the wiki page "Echo Stone", to learn about Echo Stones.

Wow Im surprised no one has answered this for you guys. First off the 2 knights mentioned above are not the only knights who have this artifact. A friend of mine received one when he reported the prisma bolted v glitch. And that's it guys. All you gotta do is be an honest player and not exploit the game and when something game breaking shows up, instead of exploiting it and trying to rob OOO you report it to solve it as fast as possible and you get one of those. At least that is one way to get it.
So the lesson here is be honest and you get something mediocre and not at all game changing in any way. Thanks OOO! Way to show us you care by showing us you dont care.

Please do not necro threads.
Being an honest player is not enough. Not exploiting the game is not enough. If they were enough, then thousands of players would have this thing.
The history of the page indicates that the Purple Spiral was added 2012 May 29 by D0gr0ck. So it's probably not an old game feature that doesn't exist any more. It's probably a total fabrication by D0gr0ck, meant to play off the Purple Heart award of the USA military.
