What's a good three-star sword for a strategy of "Shield, and time your attack"?

What's a good three-star sword for a strategy of "Multiple hits for a good combo"?

What's a good three-star gun? What are the tradeoffs of the different three-star guns?

Troika/Khorovod and Firotech

Troika/Khorovod and Firotech Alchmer II/III.

Others are just useless, no need to go talk about guns atm thanks to the balancing patch. Unless you want to use them for lols.... then I would suggest you try pretty much everything else. The only reason the original firo/cryo/volt are still useful is because they are now vial lite, it's such a pity that the devs developed the auto gun lines and upgrades just for it go to waste thanks for the patch.

In another note if you really want a multi hit sword then use night blade or tempered calibur, it's not gonna keep you alive for long though.

Troika is a 2 star sword now.

Troika is a 2 star sword now. I thought Khorovod was 4 star.

Yep, because there isn't a 3

Yep, because there isn't a 3 star version of that line so I just listed what we have. Besides, getting a khorovod early isn't a disadvantage anyway.

let me guess:

troika/khorovod is good as a weapon...and troika outclasses most 3 star swords, just learn to time your hits with the monster attacks, and don't event ry to use it against a tortodrone or a gremlin turfle before it gains the speed increase: ultra bonus.

Alchemers in general are good, because of the status changes, and also are good because of the charged attack (that can hit an enemi up to 4 times, if well timed and if it is a clean shot). For mk2 and 3, the bouncing bullets arte a nice add for crowded palces, etting you hit more than one monster per shot (though the subsequent shots are even weaker), and letting you destroy more objects in less time (also, the charged shot shots bouncing bullets too, so it can add up). The firotech is good because you can hope for a fire status to speed up your kill (seeing that fire causes 60 for a mk1, while a lvl 10 shot causes 25, at most, and a 4 star mk2 causes almost 40), but the other alchemers can be good if you are grouping (one stay with the fire, other with shock, and you can simply whipe the enemies, if you are patient and know how to team work).

For gea, i would recomend the firebreaker gear...before the balancing. You can simply shield te fire damage if you get one, so, it is not a problem that big. I would say to you to use what you see fit.

magus1d14 please.. you're

magus1d14 please.. you're quite wrong a tad.

3* Sword: the Kamarin? It shows the exact same abilities as the Thwack Hammer, Troika or Khorovod, but just isn't part of that upgrade path (yet?). It's the 3* version of that line if you compare the abilities, combo, damage output and etc.
3* Gun: the Magnus. The range is slightly less and you can't walk while shooting, but it adds much more power and the ability to stun opponents. I haven't regret buying/using it a single moment so far.

I said "because there isn't a

I said "because there isn't a 3 star version of that line" not "because there isn't a 3 star heavy weapon", I see no point in wasting you crowns when the only 4 star heavy that worth while is khorovod and you can save quite a bit by getting a troika and upgrade it.

Magnus is only decent in pvp, you don't want to shoot mobs with that....

Magnus is excellent at

Magnus is excellent at shooting gremlins actually. They have a very low defense against piercing damage. Gun puppies are very weak against the Magnus aswell in my opinion.
