Indeed. Playing fullscreen @ 1920x1080, purple text in the lower left corner can be pretty hard to read depending on what's in the background.
Besides configurable font size, the chat area needs a semi-transparent background (and many more improvements that have been suggested in this forum).
The chat area needs to be completely revamped. As it is it's functional, but not very good.
