trinkets with normal damage

Well this might have been posted before but i thought of giving out my idea about this topic
the game has a few pieces of gear with out normal damage resistance. like the divine set and the dragon scale set ans also the Radiant silvermail Set . Without the normal damage these users will take more damage than others with this damage resistance. so in my opinion there should be another way to cover up this gap. Hence we could use a trinket of varying normal damage resistance. like one of 4* and the other 5*

As far as i know there were some such trinkets but where for some reason removed from the game?

pretty much, Monsters cause split damage normal/their specialty. as long as you have one defense, normal defense is obsolete

Actually since almost everything deals some normal such trinket would be overpowered compared to the rest (jelly bands, skelly charms). Normal defense is the best, unless fighting flourishes in LD :P

Unless it offers 1/3 the defense of other trinkets. That way it'd be balanced. Useless since it'd be small, but balanced.

You've covered this perfectly.

To your second point, balancing something like that would be very tricky, because it would mean comparing how much the user gets hit with ranged attacks as opposed to melee attacks, which is different for each person/class. For swordies it would be overpowered, for gunners it would be useless. For bombers it would be balanced, but that's an obnoxious abomination, so cut that out.

How about it offered 2/3 the defence of other trinkets? I feel like your proposal would be similar to saying normal damage weapons should be doing 1/3 the game of specialized weapons.

Assuming we live in a magical world where defence trinkets weren't useless in the first place, people could get defence trinkies for each damage type and be better protected, or get normal trinkies and be decently protected anywhere, but only in meleê.
