Very soon we are going to release many new recipes and items. We would very much appreciate your feedback on them, so please discuss them when released.

Five star weapons and armors will finally be released! You will also have access to cool new armor such as the gunslinger series, salamander series, divine mantle, chaos cloak and angelic series.

Please note:

- Many items will have redundant models and textures until we make unique art for them
- Many items will have redundant icons until we change them
- 5 star items are the best of the best, many are difficult to obtain
- Some 5 star items have drawbacks to compensate for their power

Looking forward to seeing you all in new duds. Keep an eye on the announcements section for news on the release.

What about the

What about the megalodon/leviathan armor (whatever it was called)? I used that during the first preview event I played and I really liked the look of it.

And also it'll be nice to get some new recipies. All the ones now seem dated ever since all those items were added to haven.

kojiden - We'll have them all in game in time. The Deep Sea Cuirass isn't in just yet. Also, the items available in Haven was just a temporary set up in order to get some new items into players hands. This will change in the next update.

My only concern is the rarity; I'm not sure exactly what you are focusing on testing/balancing, but I hope you don't make the current Tier 3 equipment too rare right now, mainly so we can have more people testing them. I could just be greedy, but this is a Preview/best test after all. :P

I don't really like the idea

I don't really like the idea of a full set giving you a bonus, because then that discourages mismatching. I like what Guild Wars 2 is doing by making stone things that you put in the armor and those stone things can get you a special bonus for a set of them. This game doesn't have equipment slots though.

In the resource folders there are icons for helmets and armour with 'no core' and an item called a core.
So it may be in the works.

Shoebox, the "no core" icon art is in use for the art behind the costume slot in the equip screen. Though the equip screen base layer doesn't use the actual icon resources. Same thing goes for the "gauntlet" icon.

Nick - would it be possible for you to tell us if 5* gear is available from NPC shops? Or is the only way to obtain it by monster drop or alchemy? If alchemy, what Level must our 4* gear be at to alchemize the 5* gear? Thanks.

5* gear is not available in

5* gear is not available in shops and must either be alchemized or found. If alchemizing, a 4* of level 10 is typically required to create them. We'll be doing our best to make 5* items really special.

Chronus
Sounds great, I can't wait for this update.

Sounds great, I can't wait for this update. Personally, I like the fact that you have to alchemize them or get really lucky with drops - it makes them that much more special. I was afraid you were going to say they'd be sold at 100k a piece like the 5* bomb haha. Lv10 4* though... I'm going to need to get to work on my 4* Equips after studying.

Last questions (for now): where do we get the recipes for these 5* Equips? Are they in NPC shops or must they be found through monster drops? If NPC shops, are they available at a recipe merchant in Haven/Moorcroft/Emberlight or will they be sold by recipe vendors in terminals (probably at very low depths)? Also, is there any approximate estimation of when this release will be out, as in, later today, tomorrow, next weekend?

Thanks for the answers so far. (I'm pretty obsessed with the Divine gear.)

I love the way that you

I love the way that you always manage to get us excited about an update... and then still manage to throw in a ton of impressive surprises.

Also: for an item without prerequisites, the silvermail recipe looks... surprisingly good. But why are many 5* recipes cheaper than 4* variants? Is there no fixed pricing scale?

Recipes

Now that there are so many recipes, and they are mixed, and items you have never seen, I'd really like it if it was more clear whether a recipe is a sword, a gun, a helm, a shield, etc.

The current tag at the bottom is easy to miss.

So that's what the colors mean. Well, that makes things easier.

... are Divine Veil and Grey Feather Mantle matching pieces?

Nick (or whoever), would you be able to tell me this:
Miracle Hood is used to make the Divine Veil, however Miracle Cloak is used to make the Grey Feather Mantle. Is there a Divine CLOAK or Grey Feather HELM? Or are the only things Miracle is used for Divine Veil and Grey Feather Mantle? Basically, are Divine Veil and Grey Feather Mantle matching pieces? I'm just confused because usually set pieces have similar names and effects.

I just don't want to go using Lv10 Miracle stuff (takes forever) only to figure out I have crated the wrong piece...

Thanks.

Edit:

To add:
Divine Veil gives curse resist and Elemental/Shadow defense. Is there a matching Armor piece to this? The Grey Feather Mantle give Normal and Elemental defense, as well as some Fire/Freeze/Shock resist. They don't seem to match stat-wise, but... you tell me?

Wiki reminder

For those who are trying to decide what recipes to buy, keep in mind that many recipes will require materials you've never seen or heard of before. (especially for the 5* versions) In order to guide people to the most immediately useful updates, I've begun adding all new recipes to the wiki as soon as I buy them; I encourage others to do the same.

If you'd like to add to the wiki, remember to search for the item page before you buy; if the recipe is already known, consider buying and transcribing something whose recipe section on the wiki is blank. That'll help us to build the best possible database in the shortest possible time, and you'll benefit by getting to sift through tens of thousands of crowns worth of recipes in return. Thanks!

Recipes I've added so far include: Graviton bomb, valkyrie helm, Mighty Cobalt Helm, Irontech Destroyer, Voltech Alchemer Mk III, and Winmillion. The lovely Dwyn has added the super blaster, master blaster, and valiance recipes as well.

Also: I just ran into (but did not buy) a recipe for Virulisk armor. It looks like we're now seeing the emergence of everyday crafting info for things that were previously exclusive rare drops.

Wiki additions

I've also added:
*Azure Guardian Armor
*Solid Cobalt Armor
*Cobalt Armor
*Cobalt Helm
*Solid Cobalt Helm
(this means that we're missing the Mighty Cobalt Armor info, and the Azure Guardian Helm to round off those two series)

Note: It'd be wonderful if you'd cross check recipes you own to what the wiki has. Recipes have changed...the recipe on the wiki is possibly out of date and it'd be a shame for someone to get outdated info from the wiki.

There's a lot of new stuff and if we can all work together...

Thanks pauling for posting that. There's a lot of new stuff and if we can all work together it will be cleared up much faster. I have an exam tomorrow, and so I didn't get to play much at all tonight, but I'll be on a lot tomorrow and Sunday (then back to studying for the other 4 exams >_>). I'll be sure to record everything I get as I madly grind and collect for my beloved Gear...

As a side note, if anyone sees a Divine Cloak Recipe (the Armor variant of Divine Veil, not sure if it's "Cloak") please notify me. Don't buy it to resell it to me though, I just need assurance it's there. (Unless your one of those I asked to do so already).

Thanks Exum, Krys, and Cyanide!

Thanks Exum and Krys (Deathmantle = Mantle? o_o) for the assurance! And thanks Cyanide, that is apparently the right recipe anyways, Cloak = Mantle I suppose (I also remember Boswick telling me it was Divine Mantle now that I think about it).

I'm going to get to work on new Recipes and Equips I find now that I have time I can spare.

Price

Hm, mighty cobalt helm is 250, while the armor is 6250. Somebody missed a 6 I think.

Imagen de Pauling
Pauling
Likewise, 5* recipes are 3150

Likewise, 5* recipes are 3150 crowns (less than the cost of 4* recipes).

Based on the previously observed trend of 5* recipes costing 5x more than the previous level, the correct price is 31,250... so my advice to people is to buy up as many 5* recipes as they possibly can. The price won't go down, but it may go up- and if it does, you'll save a lot of money (or else make giant profits from reselling below the new market price).

Anyway: I've bankrupted myself by adding some 16 recipes to the wiki, with lots more by Dwyn, Saphy, Coriolis, and especially Ynahteb... we're starting to amass a very good collection! If you see one of those 4 in-game, be sure to thank them for all their hard work and generosity.... and remember that there's still lots more recipes left to be added. Search before you buy!

I could be intentional: give you the awesome recipes for cheap and then you work harder to actually get the stuff to make the thing. It does seem weird though.

It did seem pretty odd that

It did seem pretty odd that recipe costs went up by 5x, but premade costs only go up by 3x per star level... so a lower price point might not be a terrible idea. However, Boswick seemed surprised about the low price when I saw him earlier.

Chronus
Perhaps they did it so that...

Perhaps they did it so that we may have a better chance at getting new recipes for the first few days and testing new Equips.

Either way, I'm not complaining.
