Changing status resistance

The subject isn't descriptive, I know.

Before I start, look at this, this, and this. Look at the status resists.

Something is clearly wrong.

Why do sword users get an inbuilt status resist? The other two lines have no resistance until you hit 5*. There are two ways to fix this:

  1. Remove freeze resist from the wolver gear until hitting Skolver. Simple enough.
  2. Give Gunslinger and Demo equips status resists.
Which resistances? I think Demo should get shock resistance because it seems a little industrial oriented. Gunslinger should get fire because, well...cowboys? Desert? Hot temperatures? Idk, just seems to match it.

To take it farther, Wolver could have negative shock and fire resist, demo could have negative freeze and fire resist, and gunslinger could have negative shock and freeze resist. I don't think this is balanced, but it's more of a idea coming from the ice/fire/shock breakers.

Any opinions?

I'd be more in favor of removing it

Would be simpler and the defensive armors would have something over it, although in my opinion they need more.

I don't think making the offensive armors have negative status resist would be imbalanced, as right now they don't have any drawback whatsoever. The extra defense from the defensive armors is not enough to make up for the lack of offensive bonus.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but besides cobalt every other 2*+ set in the game has a status resist. So go for #2.

Demo should have Freeze or Fire to match it's regular 5* upgrades (shock is only on SL mercurial)
Same goes for Gunslinger, fire wouldnt fit. Curse, stun freeze, or poison area available.

I'm of the opinion that the offensive oriented armors shouldn't even have defensive buffs. It makes more sense that you're trading defense for that increase in offense. With how the Wolver armors are now, it just makes them stand above the other offensive armors. Then again there's always debate about whether or not swords are just better than guns and bombs anyway, but I won't get into that.

If they were to be given status resistances they would have to cover up a fault that their assigned weapon can't cover. Best set up would be:
- Wolver armor has Freeze protection because they need to close distance and get close. Not being able to move at all is death for them, especially if they're out of range. (Well that would be the case if a lot of swords didn't have long range attacks...)
- Demo armors would work well with Shock resistance due to the fact that they need to charge up to be able to attack. That constant interruption ruins being able to get those bombs ready and could easily spell doom for a bomber Knight should they get afflicted with it. It also matches the Elemental defense inherent in the armor already.
- Gunslinger armor is a little more tricky. Poison has a pretty debilitating effect since it takes away a lot of offensive power and Gunners can't interrupt attacks as much as a Swordsman could. Curse could possibly shut down any offense if it hits the right weapons, but the same could be said of any weapon type. Fire is bad for everyone, so it affects Gunners about the same. Personally, I think Stun is the most crippling for a Gunner. Without being able to stay out of range and having slowed down attacks, it really leaves them open. This is especially bad if you add in that lack of interruption that most guns have.

Honestly, all of the armors just need a good rebalance. Too many are just a little less than useful and others like Wolver, Gunner, Demo, and Chaos are a bit too useful.
Well that's my two Crowns on the matter.

The direct upgrade for wolver is skolver. Still piercing, still sword damage, still freeze resistance.
The direct upgrade for demo is volcanic. Still elemental, still CTR. Should be still fire. Fire is useful on bomber armour because fire messes with charging.
The direct upgrade for gunslinger is justifier. Still piercing, still ASI. Should be still stun. Stun is useful on gunners because they need their mobility.

I agree that offensive armours need drawbacks, or at least other armours get buffed.

Yep, offensive armors definitely need status weaknesses.
