I will be making some significant suggestions for pulsar-style handguns in this following topic. Changes like the ones outlined here are not something I take lightly, but I feel they will provide a more balanced experience in the long run.
These changes will affect the following handguns:
- Pulsar
- Heavy Pulsar
- Radiant Pulsar
- Supernova
- Kilowatt Pulsar
- Gigawatt Pulsar
- Polaris
Please note that I will be taking measures (not really) to ensure a smooth transition to those affected by these changes (detailed further on). Please also note that it is not my intention to reduce the power of these handguns in any way.
Overview of Suggestion:
The functional behavior of these handguns will change significantly, while still remaining in the spirit of the handgun line. Currently, pulsar-style handguns create a series of explosions after a set amount of time, effectively acting like a bomb attack in multiple directions. The new suggestion will instead cause these handguns to maintain their original pellet size that then exponentially increase in damage, depending on the distance each pellet has travelled. These pellets will then be able to pierce through enemies, each time losing potential damage until they reach their current range
Next, the damage values and clip sizes of these existing pulsar handguns will undergo changes to better suit them for their intended purpose. The Polaris for example, will deal less damage at the beginning of its path but will also have a higher maximum damage. They will also have their clip size increased to four. Again, it is not my intention to reduce the effectiveness of these handguns.
Reason for the changes:
The current pulsar-style handguns are functionally, not very handgun-like. They are the standouts in the system we’ve tried to build whereby: guns fire bullets, bombs create areas of damage, and swords do a mix of the two.
My idea of the pulsar line was to have them ‘travel’ and hit targets at a distance. So, I'm making this suggestion because I want all handguns to feel like handguns- weapons that when used, allow damage at a range on the playfield and feel like they are precise.
If you currently own the handguns affected by this suggestion:
A significant change such as this one is not something I take lightly. I will be taking measures to ensure that handgun users have a smooth transition over to these new bombs (again, not really). The exact details of these measures will be disclosed closer to release.
I'll even be suggesting new handguns during the change to further expand a gunner's arsenal. Additionally, existing pulsar handguns will finally receive 5 new versions.
Finally, on a personal note, I understand that some of you will find this transition challenging, however I believe that it is in the best interest of the game and will ultimately lead to a better play experience for everyone. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you and appreciate your patience.
