Hello everyone!

Recently I read a suggestion thread on armour dyes. It basically was proposing that people could buy these dyes in all the accessory coulours (dusky, military, cool etc.) and dye their armour with them. I think it's a brilliant idea, but may need a few adjustments. This is because of some issues that people will face.

Here are my solutions to a couple of problems:

#1 lockdown: if people dye their armour, people might have trouble seeing what they're wearing, thus effecting damage types and so on. This can be solved easily. The dye only dyes certain parts of the armour. For example: someone dyes their skolver coat and cap. The parts that get dyed are the main part of the design. The grey parts and shiny fur parts stay as is. The shiny glow stays the same as well. So even with the bulk of the armour dyed, people can still identify that the player is wearing skolver armour and cap.
EDIT: Use my avatar as a guide, the part that gets dyed is the creamy white part, (you know, the bulk of the armour). The shiny white fur, grey parts, and other small details stay as is.

#2 cost: I think armour dyes should be around 50k crowns each, and can be bought at Vatel, who sells personal colours, eye changers and height modificators. If armour dyes were too cheap, or too expensive, then they would become either too numerous, or too scarce. (It's mainly scarce that's the issue, as mainly rich knights would have them). But if rich knights really wanted to show off, they could buy rare dyes, such as divine and volcanic. These would work well as featured auctions and should sell for around the price of auras.

So yeah, there's my theory, if you can see any flaws in this idea feel free to point them out, or if you have any ideas about what could be added to make this idea better then please share them with me!

Thanks for your time!

ok

But come up with another revenue stream for OOO in the meantime, because this makes all future armor reskin promos impossible.

@Klipik

Your right, but I think that the armour reskins could continue, as they're not in the accessory colours.

Btw

By the way, what's a revenue stream? Sorry I'm still sort of new to the forums...

Although I'm not overly familiar with the term myself, I think he means that you should come up with another way for OOO to profit, considering that by removing the sellability of Armour Reskins you're reducing said profit margin for OOO.

Given that this idea goes ahead. It would follow that this would lower OOO's appeal of this idea, so you should probably come up with another idea stemming from this that could benefit OOO in compensation for the possible income you're taking away.

Ok, I got it!

Rightio, I have another idea:

Keep everything the same as it is, except the access to rare armour dyes. Rather then have them as featured auctions, have them only available through buying energy. OOO could have a promo event that whenever you buy energy for a limited time, you receive a prize box containing a rare dye (Volcanic, divine, prismatic etc). Also, if you buy an energy pack, you'll receive multiple prize boxes. (Say, 3 for a starter pack and 4 for a battle pack). This should greatly increase sales, as players will be hunting for their desired rare dye).

Beep Boop, Son. Beep Boop.

That was my thread. : P
I'm going to revive it once I get through some commissions I have stacked up.

Ahem. Anyways. A possible solution is just to make the specific armor dyes only available after a fair bit of time after the promo. It makes it more accessible to everyone that way, especially to people who join up after the promo. I hate that these great colors just fade into obscurity due to their limited nature.
Granted, this idea would still cut into their profits a little bit. However, if they make the promos more often, say every month or two months, they would still take in a steady stream of income. If they make the armors to be dyeable, it would lead the texture files being set up in a way that they can turn these out ridiculously quick. They could even make a monthly thing out of it.
Hell, even put the old dyes on sale as the new ones come in. The sale ones would have to be limited limited, like only 100 of them available, so there would still be incentive to buy them at full price, but they are pretty much guaranteed to sell those 100... unless it's an ugly color combo or something. Then they can always throw in more incentives to sweeten the deal (accessories, variant tickets, etc.)

Another solution is to start making use of the Steam Workshop, have people make accessories for them (after setting specific guidelines for them), and then sell these in packs every couple months as well. They may have to give a small percentage of the profits to the modellers, but the potential for this is nigh infinite. They could even make use of the same strategies that I listed above.

@Zopyros-II

Good idea Zopyros, if the specific armour dyes are available after the promo then people could sell the dye they got in the promo (if they're acquired unbound) in order to earn money to buy the dye they wanted. This would also encourage people to buy energy so that they're ready for when the dye they want goes on sale. Even if this might cut the profits to OOO, they could make the rare dyes quite expensive, so there's an incentive to get them during the promo.

Anyways, good luck with reviving your thread! Hopefully OOO will notice this idea, as it would help players create their own unique knight, and probably attract EVEN MORE players!

Haha, sorry, let me simplify that...

What Zopyros suggested is that the rare armour dyes become featured auctions when the promo has finished. This would allow knights to get the specific rare dye they wanted even if they got the wrong one during the promo. But to make sure this doesn't cut profits for OOO, I think that the dyes received during the promo should be unbound. This would encourage players to get a rare dye during the promo so that they could swap it for another one if need be. As for the stuff on limited auctions and the steam workshop, I have no idea. Ask Zopyros about that one! XD

Oh yes, I forgot to mention

About the armour reskins, as the dyes only cover a certain area of the armour (see my original post) people won't be able to get most armour in the full colour they want. So the armour reskins can still make a profit, as they are received in a fully coated specific colour. Dyes are more of a novelty, and are more designed for making armour match accessories and gear.

Quick question, what would be the buy price for the dyes?

@Xxpapaya

I thought about 50k each for the normal dyes (dusky, regal, cool etc). While the rare dyes (volcanic, prismatic, divine etc) would sell for around 250k. Normal dyes can be bought off vatel, while rare dyes can only be obtained during a promo (you get em in prize boxes when you buy energy) or from a featured auction with a limited supply.

Mind you, the normal dyes could be cheaper, I just thought 50k as its the same price as personal colors, eye changers and height modifiers.
