Has anyone ever got a book from a Black Kat in the 8-1 mission Weight of Darkness?
Would like the confirmation I didn't grind that place 50 hours when I should have been elsewhere...

I thought books don't drop during the prestige missions?
Also, I'd be farming the Alone in the Dark mission if I could... unfortunately I don't have the 5* gear to clear the hall of heroes... But thanks for your reply

^A bit of good news for ye
Only the Black Kats *guaranteed* to spawn won't drop anything (i.e. those that spawn at the final battle in the prestige mission). Any spawned spookats have a chance of becoming a Black Kat which includes those that appear during the prestige mission (even the spookats that spawn during the final battle).
P.s. Oh books! I've never heard about that. I always thought if they dropped anything, a book may as well be one of them.

Got my first book from there
Got my first book from there after about 30 runs on the second day of the event, later got a second book from the arcade, its all luck regardless IMO.

How about solo/full parties ? Does having a full party increase the chances of getting a rare drop?

Full: 1 in 4 chance that if a book is dropped, it goes to you.
Does full party increase chances of book from dropping? Doubt it. Even if it did, I doubt it would be greater than 4x to make full runs worth it.

One would think, but that's only for the kats that appear at the end of the mission. I've had two kats appear outside of that, both of which had dropped [tokens].

I got 3 Kats in the Purr
I got 3 Kats in the Purr Terror...aka 9 tokens. That was nice, but not nearly enough pages for a book :(

My friend found all of his four books in 8-1, so it's definitely possible.
Consider that rarer mats have a higher chance of dropping at deeper depths, though. It might be the same with books or it may not. I've farmed there for six days and no book, my friend's been there for three days with four books.

however my luck may be changing as last run i had 3 kats & a vile striker (4*) box drop :)

Iam tier 2 and I killed 8 black kats and no books ........does the chance increases when you are tier 3 ?
And wouldnt that be unfair since tier 2 cant go to tier 3 in 13 days :(

I'm not sure if you can get it in T2, it's also a 5* hat so someone with 2*/3* equips doesn't really need it.
Over 400 tokens now and still no book, starting to lose hope :s

I keep hearing the deeper you are, the more likely the Dark Ritual Books will be dropped. Though I can't tell if that's true or not, it's a strong possibility. Especially since you tend to see the 5* mats get dropped the closer you are to the core. And yes, the Book is a 5* mat for those who may be wondering.

I can confirm that book drops in Weight of Darkness first level.
One dropped yesterday for me while in a grp with a friend. I won it, but since it wasn't my run (friend invited me) and I promised them to give them any books dropped on their run, I gave it to them.

Knowing it can spawn in 8-1 keeps me going on but it is indeed hard. I feel for you guys who have 900 tokens, that must be very hard to deal with when others are walking all over books...

It's so disgusting... I wish this even was based on hard work rather than sheer luck, because people who try to get the book should be rewarded for their efforts instead of people getting 14 books and acting like douchebags.

So I grinded 8-1 for 2-3 days and got no books. I grinded 9-2 for 1 day and got a book. Yeah I'd advise you to do AitD
Funny story though. So I get a Kat, kill it, call the guildmates in to loot it. A second Kat spawns and there's me and a guildmate. I laugh and think, if it drops a book it'll probably go to him. It drops the book. He gets it. Thankfully he was kind enough to give it back... anyways
From what I find the odds stack like so
Going Solo has less chance of getting a Kat than in a group
Groups have more of a chance of getting a book, but less chance of you getting it
I also recall someone's conjecture on 'drop days' (i.e. you will get a drop every 79 hours) and parties and that might factor in too (like with my story)

My guildmate got 4 doing so. Again, I don't remember where the post is but there was a theory about drop rates that occured on designated days/times. The reason solo runs get fewer books is 1) less kats and 2) less people, ergo what drops isn't "their" drop for the time frame, but rather someone else's.

Judging by my bad luck in not getting any in a party and in solo runs, if I rejoined parties to farm, it probably wouldn't come to me haha.
At the moment I'm solo running weight of darkness, and I'll probably make my 5* gear now instead of saving my money in case book prices dropped... then I'll farm alone in the dark.
A friend of mine got it there, but rarer mats have a better chance of being dropped at lower depths. Take FSC and the number of fire souls you get on average. It depends on whether you want to go with the easier poison kats or the slightly better chances with shock kats. Or just do the best option and just repeat the first level of Purr Terror for the best chances at getting one.
