I cannot belive what I'm hearing!

Due to my curious behavior (in combination with boredom), I did some digging around in the game's files. looking at textures, listening to sounds and whatnot. until I hear THIS!

To my knowledge, this is easier if you're a Steam user, so here's the directory:

Steam -> Steamapps -> Common -> Spiral Knights -> rsrc -> sound -> effect -> Status.

Now you're in the sound folder that has the sounds of status conditions and other debuffs. Sounds good, no? NO!. Listen to the ones with _ko at the end of their names.If you listen closely, you can hear a little "Oh!" in all of them. Now this brings me to my mind-blown opinion: Knights DO NOT sound like that! That's just like... bad voice-acting for all of them! And if a few knights did have their vocal chords set to sound like that, well... too bad :s.

Off topic for a bit: I actually do like the small bits of "Voice Acting" the SK has to offer. Such as Vanaduke in his various phases, but those previously stated are just...Wow.

NOTE: If the GMs are offended by this in any way because I was rummaging through the files and stuff and see fit to take action on this for any reason, who am I to stop them? As a 2-year veteran, they have my fullest permission do remove this thread if they so want to (I don't HAVE to give permission as they are the developers, but still... I wanna be a good person and ensure I'm not doing anything wrong).

Uh, so? It's developmental content.
TF2 characters don't sound like this, do they?

They do, but most of the voice acting is covered by the sound of miniguns, missiles and flamethrowers.
Most of the sounds you put up here, are actuall sounds used in game, I think these specific ones are used for when being backstabbed.

Both of you are wrong. Those death screams were used in the beta.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but posting spoilers is a no no. That and what you heard might even be used for something else.

Anyway, you can't say "Knights don't sound like that" because you don't know what knights sound like. I mean, Link sounds kinda weird and non-generic for a voice-acted main character.

While I don't think giving Knights voices would be too bad, those particular sound bits are... well, i'm glad they shelved them.

You should try adding Captain Falcon's "OOOOAAAAAGHHHHHH" from Smash Bros. to Knights' death sounds. It's hilarious.

Nick once said he planned to do voice acting for Vana, but then realized it would have made it too special since nothing else in the game had voice acting (and vana is nothing more than a random dude unrelated to the main point of the story)

It could have been there

It could have been there beforehand but never used, not necessarily a spoiler.

@Draycos: ....... You think I've been living under a rock!?!?!? I've been playing the SSB series since I was 7! And I still have all 3 games!

@Hexzyle: I am aware of this as I have played Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, and heard his voice clips in the SSB games. Also, Thanks for pointing out the crit-deaths from TF2. I forgot about those.

@Juances:

(and vana is nothing more than a random dude unrelated to the main point of the story)

You're wrong for 3 reasons:

1) Vana is the more or less "Final boss" of the game so there goes your "Unrelated to the main point of the story"

2) His ruined castle is blocking the core, which is canon to the storyline.

3) His castle is also a playground for Vanguards which they also see as Cr and CE heaven (Unless UFSC).

Still, at least those slight grunts give a hint of atmosphere to it. "Ruh! *Mace swing*" "Hooweregh! *Dash across the room*" "Uh agh.... *Mask phase" "Uuuuuggghhh.... *Fiery re-incarnation if you listen real closely or if you turn the music off*"

If I knew how to Audacity, I would Voice him and other NPC's myself and make a video.

How dare you use a name of my future GMod/SFM series... And I do believe the canonical term is "Isorrian".

1) Vana is the more or less "Final boss" of the game so there goes your "Unrelated to the main point of the story"

But he's not related to the Gremlins nor the Core, lorewise. The burning remains of his Citadel just happens to be sitting right ontop of the Core. He's only the "Final Boss" because this game still is in its "early stages" and not much lore content has been released

Actually, "spiral" reffers to the game's artstyle and textures. Spirals are almost everywhere.

About the voices, I'd love it if they actually did something like a cute sounding "hi!" when talking to female NPCs other than Desna ("she's" obviously a man in a disguise) and a bit grumpy sounding "hey" for the males in similar fashion to the stranger's beep boop clickety click stuff.

I'd rather you see this

You mean just slight "Hi/hey" voice clips for when initiating conversation with NPC's? Well to make gender distinction, I'd stuggest they'd put in some kind of code that scans proto armor to make what play what (Such as the tailed helm is for girls. But I accidentally chose a toasty culet back in April 2011. And I'm a guy D:).

I'd like to comment on vana.

vana is literally a pissed-off fire king that just happens to float in between you and the core due to the nature of the clockworks.

final boss or no, he's literally yanked from his world and plopped there for you to fight.
