more proof

"A Recording from Parma, Alpha Squad Recon:
We are at the end of the line. Pursued by some kind of terrible darkness we are forced into the unknown.
As we neared the Core- I don't know how to describe this really... the shadows came alive and began to attack us. Rulen became enveloped in it and by the time Grantz freed him his body was badly burned. He said it felt like both fire and ice.
And then we could go no further. As I record this, the darkness is nearly upon us, consuming the world we see, the light.
But then the Core, it began to open, filling the place with such a light, such an intense, blinding light. Euclid has made the call; faced with the darkness, we'll enter the core, enter the light.
This will likely be my final recording."

Ok, so, they entered the core.

That means they most likely are possessed by the swarm, and they are still in the core today.

They are probably connected to a shadow Arkus too? But all of them were alive when they first entered.

*EDIT*

Also it's weird, the core ONLY opened for the alpha squad. In which they were blinded by the light, then they entered and it closed behind them. Only truly gifted knights are allowed to enter? That COMPLETELY matches the storyline!

There's a shiny feature that these forums have.

It's called an edit button.

Put all of your info on the OP in a NEATLY ORGANIZED fashion. And then we may be able to discuss.

Did I mention neatly organized?

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Ah, I like your points. All true, all true. Our side has two problems.

As a matter of fact, they've been battling what's in there two plus for years now. While they have infinite energy of the core to pool from, so does their opponent. They can't drain the core as quickly as their foe, who has acquired practice for centuries.

The core only opens once either side falls. That's the other problem: Our side is loosing, and no one can help them. We can only take their place once they're gone.

When the last of them breathes their final breath, then it's your turn, Vanguards.

Did you ever compare the recon module you quoted with the finale of the Unknown Passage.

Surrounded by the Swarm, surrounded by the dark, closing in, endlessly coming... And when it all seems like too much, a shining bridge materializes out of nowhere and a bright light welcomes you down to Sanctuary, where its many eyes cannot see your, nor can its many arms reach you. I'm sure at least someone in the party made that call: "RUN"

Just sayin'

If they are inside the core, they can't be possesed by the swarm since the swarm IS TRYING TO ENTER on it's own.
That's what shadow lairs are for, right?

Altought it's possible as a cheap clique that when we open the core, we see them all good and fine, but then things go wrong, the swarm appears, they get infected in 2 seconds and we battle them anyways.

The Core that we find at the

The Core that we find at the final terminal isn't the actual Core, it's just another section of the Clockworks that's blocked off. We will open it up, only to find that we still have a long way to go.

At least, that's my theory.

Fatalitizer, look at the Clockworks tunnels backgrounds. You see the balls in some of the cogs? That's where worlds other than tunnels and Scarlet Fortress are stored. Now go inside a Jigsaw Valley/Deconzone level. You see how big it is? Now compare it to the Core. How would they put many more worlds in a ball that's not even the size of one world?

It's hard to grasp the scale of the core just by starting at it, and the scale of the domes in the cogs just from the background.

The Clockwork Tunnels are the catwalks between said domes btw, normally used for maintenance by Gremlins.

ok so we know that the alpha

ok so we know that the alpha squad is in the core, but were they ever and if they were, are they still possessed by the swarm? We know the core contains a living entity that is being protected from the swarm, which is the reason the entity had the architect (king tinkinzer) build the clockworks. Could it be that when the alpha squad entered the core that whatever entity is inside it cleaned them of the swarm and is protecting them? Also, for the question of "why did the core open up for the alpha squad and nobody else?", well, the artifacts indicate that the swarm was engulfing everything and was closing in to finish off the alpha squad...maybe because of the imminent threat of the swarm, the entity opened the core out of sympathy and compassion for the alpha squad. I've been scratching my head over the story for a long time, i just love the SK storyline and REALLY WISH THEY WOULD CONTINUE IT. There is more I could say here but that would involve spoilers from the source code, and seeing as how that would be against the rules, I won't.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if we open the core and find the Alpha Squad sitting around having some tea and biscuits. Then they be all like "Oh HAAY der! We're just having some R&R after working in dem works-of-clocks and chatting with this 'ere sentient core. By the way, it says that them grems in dat Crimson Order are a bunch of jerks and we should do sumthin' 'bout 'em. Can you deal with that for it us? kthxbai"

The core is, very roughly, 500 meters in diameter. By comparison, according to a typical Aurora Isles background, a regular skydome has a diameter of 113 meters.
