What is the point in gaining clearance for the second and third tiers in clockworks now that there is no charge of either crowns or energy associated with skipping to higher tiers?

I never paid any mind to the event hubs except when it involved friends, to whom I would congratulate if they have moved up in ranking. But that would make sense.

I used to challenge myself to try and get clearance to all tiers on all gates, just so I could see all those pretty stars filled in.
But other than personal challenges, there's not much use for it anymore, a bit of a relic of how the Arcade used to work.
