For the sake of nostalgia.

I was googling some SK pics today and found some screenshots from the old UI.

And I know this has probably been posted a million times, but shouldn't that ring some bells, OOO?
It almost made me cry to see what it used to be to what it is compared to today. I loved everything about the old UI, the cartoony icons, the simplicity, it looked overall beautifull and I would really like to know the reason for giving us this new UI. I don't think it was really a necessary. I might not have been there since the beginning of SK but I've been around long enough to fall in love with it's cartoony, cell shaded mix of fun combat with a great community, and while combat hasn't changed (that much, since the changes were pretty minor) and the community is still great, I still feel like there should be an option to change your UI back to the old one. The one I fell in love with.

I know you probably put a lot of work and effort into the new UI, but as an old saying goes; "Don't try to fix what is not broken". I just can't get used to this new look, you had something unique but threw it away for no apparent reason OOO.

/me blows confetti on Scirio.

/me blows confetti on Scirio. Oops, we all turned into pumpkins, and it ain't changing back.

It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't get in the way of functionality.

Only way to view Crowns and Energy blocks the minimap.

When my weapon isn't visible, the only way to find out what I'm holding is to SWITCH it!?

No way to tell my party member's HP. Whether Ancient with 2 Pentas, or naked Proto, all looks the same.

Buggy self-portrait taking up screen space for no reason.

Party members take up the same space as chat in LD.

No alternative/hotkey to some stuff in that {censored} activities menu, which is conveniently blocked by the Arsenal.

I'm sure there's more.

Hm.

While reminiscing is good, Don't over-do it, or you'll hurt yourself.

I myself was also amongst the old UI, but the change never really bothered me. Heck, I'm finding myself using hotkeys I never used with the old UI, And when I see a pic that also has the old UI, I always say "Oh, look, old UI". But inside I do miss it quite a bit. But not enough to get me down (no offense). it actually took me 10 seconds to adjust myself and get a good feel for it (unlike most veterans. But at least I can see some sense and reason within you rather than blatant whining and quitting)

As UN-caring as I sound, Always move forward. That's the only direct to go anyway, right?

(DERP NOTE: I honestly like old/new UI veteran opinions more than old RSS elitists.)

Even though I feel the whole UI discussion is long dead, I still want to add that I'm a bit annoyed at having to choose between two evils here...

I can either choose to have the weapon wheel on. Even though I find it distracting and annoying when it covers things.

Or I can choose to have it turned off, and every once in a while, whenever I get cursed, I will end up involuntarily playing Russian roulette with my weapons, as I have no idea what weapons will hurt me and not.

... Black Kat event suddenly became a Deer Hunt.

I've never really been that attached to the old UI and frankly I'm not sure why everyone hates the new one so much...

@Mickmane

Just going through some of your criticism here. A few are valid and a few I cant make an opinion on (I gave up Lockdown AGES ago)...

"Only way to view Crowns and Energy blocks the minimap."
I'm sorry, but are you getting lost in Haven or something? Or are you just trying to make business deals mid FSC? In which case don't you have some more pressing things like zombies and fire to attend to, rather than crowns? People seem to complain a lot about this, and I never understood why other than "It's different." Your crowns and energy pop up anyways whenever you're doing something related to crowns/energy, like trading and crafting.

"When my weapon isn't visible, the only way to find out what I'm holding is to SWITCH it!?"
Wait what? When is your weapon invisible? Regardless, you have only 4 weapons AT MOST. If you can't keep that straight in your head then I don't know what to tell ya... Other than swing the dang thing and see what happens. I'll admit, when you're cursed it can be a bit burdensome, but the old UI only showed ONE weapon. With the new wheel, you scroll once and you can see most of your weapon icons and which of them are cursed, while before you had to switch to each one in turn to see which were usable.

"No way to tell my party member's HP. Whether Ancient with 2 Pentas, or naked Proto, all looks the same."
Yes, but before you could be at half health and still look just as healthy as the guy at full. The old UI could only display 20 pips at most to your allies, remember?

Buggy self-portrait taking up screen space for no reason.
A valid complaint, but I agree with Batabii's view on this. If you're not playing on an ipad-sized screen, it's not that cumbersome. And when it works, it's a nice touch.

"No alternative/hotkey to some stuff in that {censored} activities menu, which is conveniently blocked by the Arsenal."
You know... you can close your arsenal from time to time... You were complaining about stuff taking up screen space. It's a single keystroke too. I see very few reasons why you would need to be accessing your arsenal and the activities menu at the same time. The closest I can think of is using the supply depot, but for me I can bring that up by pressing "k". Maybe quickly going from equipping a Lockdown loadout to queuing, but once again, I gave up LD LOOONG ago.

Traevelliath, I don't see anything that makes what I said untrue, just a ton of assumptions that aren't even remotely related to me and what I do in the game, in an attempt to argue for the sake of arguing.

I'm not interested in that.
