Same old song and dance.

No naming and shamming, don't do trades involving more than one box, file a support ticket for help (sorry for no link.)

no naming my butt...

Contradicting with forum. At complain window, it definitely said something like... spread the news to people surround you so people be aware with the name of the scammers.

double post I don't care

just FSC with this guy. He's at impervious. You should ask the guild officers about this dispute, they most likely take their member seriously.

I don't get why naming and shaming is such a heinous offense. I mean if this guy is going around scamming people, I think the public has the right to know so that he can't keep doing it. And sure maybe it was some kind of honest mistake but I don't think it means we should not be aware of the many scammers that might exist just because a handful of them have weird glitches.

And while we're on that, why is necroing so terrible?

Because if the person didn't do it, you're tarnishing their name unfairly.

what khamsin said.

players are very resourceful if they want to slander someone they do not like, even if that person was not to blame for whatever they are accused of.

It's best to let the GMs handle it. There's no need to heckle him; scamming is a punished by a permanent ban, and if he doesn't think he's been exposed, he's less likely to try to evade the ban by moving his inventory to an alt.

The thing about naming and shaming scammers depends on the situation and place.

If I'm on Haven asking new players to send me money and their passwords for whatever reason, you could say "this beutifull person is a scammer" on the spot to warn the poor noob. A GM won't blame you for that.

It's not exactly slander.

It's not exactly slander. It's similar, but a better word would be libel. Libel is defamation in written form, whereas slander would be spoken defamation.

@Little-Juances: The point is more that the forums is a public and always accessible place. The contents of the post is technically "published." Of course the post can be changed. But something "spoken" in game isn't logged for the general public to see at any time. So the "naming and shaming" is for the forums, where it could be considered as libel.
