It seems that every time someone dies without an ER, they just refuse to revive with a Spark of Life, even if they have hundreds of them... I don't get it. Maybe I'm missing something, but what's so bad about spending one?

I can't refuse something I don't have, I always use them since I end up dying because some sort of lag spike or whatever. If I run out of them, I just leave the party, because people is always like "That guy doesn't want to use his sparks and want us to use our sparks with him".
Like Hollows said, in my case it is a particular challenge when I refuse to use any Sparks of Life in my arsenal, even if I do not have hundreds. I will, however, be quick to use some for a fallen comrade who has revived themselves enough times.
They're rare and valuable. Selfishness and greed dictate that you shouldn't consume rare and valuable things unless you absolutely have to. Why spend the equivalent of 20 CE when "Return to Haven" is free?
Or, you know, they just don't want to.
Because back in the old days, it costed energy to travel the clockworks, but you can rely on friends to revive you. Now it's just free travel.
I always play Solo for this reason. I'm saving mine up for future Shadow Lairs. I have 248.
...
I think I overdid it.
If you plan on going to more than one, no you didn't.
If you're going to go to DFSC...you're not packing enough my friend.
It's just the typical RPG hoard. "hmm... I have 99 potion, but better not use them now, I might need them later."
Aw jeez.
(I'm trying for Ice Queen, Red Roarmulus Twins, & Darkfire Vanaduke. I wanna try them all.)
I do too, but for right now, I'm going to get the guns needed to craft the new guns when they're implemented.

Yup.
There are ppl that don't use the chat and just expect you to rev them. After a while of not reving them they will either give up and rev themselves or go solo. I have beggers on my friends list so yeah. In my opinion people should be honest with each other but hey this is a Massively multiplayer online (MMO) game. Mcchineseninja knows I have little to no sparks and am saving up (currently have 5 as of posting this). So what I would do in a random party is I would tell the party how many sparks I have. If I do die after using my last rev I just leave.
I'll never use Sparks of Life on random players; on friends I will. I just can't stand people who join in on Elite difficulty and die so quickly then either lay there waiting a few minutes before they leave or beg to be revived. I wouldn't mind reviving other players if you had to sacrifice half your health like it used to be. I've even seen a player argue and demand crowns from another player because they used a spark of life to revive the fallen player. The fault really is just poor game design.
I actually find a lot of parties where everyone is using as many sparks as humanly possible. I'm not kidding, I have seen people charge into spikes and stand on them until they die. Almost immediately they revive and continue on to the next trap!
When I do find a smart individual who realizes the values of the sparks, they tend to sit around and wait until who ever is still standing finishes up the level or someone revives him/her. At these points I like to pitch in and give players a bit of help. For 1,000 crowns that is. With both randoms and friends alike I will sell them a revive. It's amazing how much money I can make off of it too!
So for me a bunch of people just waiting for free revives can benefit me more than harm.
Right...a personal challenge (looks at inventory, which consists of, oh wait, it has no sparks of lives XD) :P
i still do hesitate 1-2 seconds before pushing the revive button because of the giant loss, that came with energy reviving in classic SK..
it would literally destroy the entire game, not to mention, that u could just lie around and still get item pickups from ur living teammates, because loot was shared
at that time, the people, who revived themselves and others immediately were responsible for increasing reviving costs to very high numbers
i completely forgot how valuable health sharing was at that time..it was the 1 unfair difference between ppl with good friends/guilds and soloers, because every revive would increase its energy cost, while health sharing was completely free
the main principle was..reviving decreases profit, more reviving leads to loss of money, which means something like this in the bigger picture, u start with 10k crowns and finish an hour later with 6k crowns(and i have been in parties, where they reached the maximumg reviving cost of 1000 energy, it was even painful just to see them spend that kind of money)
fun fact as a beginner u did not care about any of that and just spam revive button until u couldnt revive anymore and started understanding, what it would cost: cannot play the game, because u have to wait a few hours just for 10 mist energy to recharge, so u could pay the elevator fee
PS these forums could use an update too
It was kind of great when you have lots of sparks. We were at elite Rabid Snarby I lost like 12 sparks. Before the sprite update it cost me like alot of ce revs to finish it. So hooray for the update I guess.
Either they are saving it for an occasion like a arenas or shadow lairs.
I could help friends T3 is kind of lots of pros and T1 and T2 I dont know whats their situation for sparks?
"rare and valuable"?
I wouldn't be using the word "rare" so loosely, my friend. However No-Thanks also has a point
Despite my metric buttton of SoLs, I would of course use them for myself if solo (You can get like 7-8+ just from elite FSC), If it's a party, I'd wait for someone to use their spark if they die. Then after like 2 minutes I'll snap and revive them myself. I'm not the one to lie dead and wait for revs (except the old system).
However if it's someone I'm familiar with (guildmate, close friend), of course I'm gonna use mine immediately.
I have a tendency to click "Return to Haven" even when I actually wanted to use a SoL. Kiiiinda annoying if you're just about to get the end map boxes.
Lol that's how I feel after dying twice in a elite FSC run XD. FIRE VIALS ARE EVIL D: (Screenshot for that statement coming ASAP)
I probably used 20 sparks today and made them all back. I have no idea what you're talking about :3
I hate using em cause the feel like such a nub cake for dieing.
Although I dont like the new rev system cause it promotes carelessness for peeps who have alot.
Perhaps it's a personal challenge they have placed upon themselves? Or maybe they are saving them for a special occasion.
