So lately if you've been following SK's facebook, twitter, or Google +, you've gotten a treat of a few blurry images of some weird technology. Many of you have assumed it's the Skylark, the ship that brought us to Cradle and ultimately crashed to bits and pieces, but what you might not have noticed is that they gave a big hint that it is indeed the Skylark. In fact, I'm betting that there won't be any more images, the next bit will be a full reveal, here's why!

If you only follow one of their social media outlets, you noticed two seemingly junk lines of text before some of the pictures. All three of the sites had "eazar" by the most recent picture and each one had one other on a different picture...

Facebook got "Aluglug" found here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=705327122827943&set=a.2045717995...

Twitter got "Acinopaj" found here: https://twitter.com/SpiralKnights/status/388000923110629376

and Google + got "Sisnevra" found here: https://plus.google.com/102485750423925953008/posts/FKs8dTfe4bZ

If you flip them around, you get "Razae", "Gulgula", "Japonica", and "Arvensis". These still aren't exactly clear instructions, but a bit of looking around will reveal that they are all part of the scientific names of a specific type of bird. Specifically, they're the four different species of the genus Alauda: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alauda

This genus is better known as the Skylark.

So... with all four species names covered, that leaves them no more hints to give, so their next image should be juicy, and could come with some big announcement! ... Or maybe just an image of the whole thing. Either way, this should be good!

I don't really frequent the forums, and I felt like a full explanation of the whole thing was worthy of its own thread. I suppose I could have in retrospect, but it's a bit late for that now. Plus, all the others seem to be focusing on the images, with not much discussion going to the Skylark hints.

"You couldn't have posted this one one of the many preexisting threads?"

I see these forums haven't changed one bit since I visited back during the Summer - always trying to move people's threads around in a passive-aggressive way.

Welcome back, Lanieu!

There's been quite a bit of threads regarding all this, though. Filling the front page with more stuff on the same subject is pretty annoying.

So? Let people speculate.

So? Let people speculate. They're allowed.

And it is good to be back...although so much in this game has changed for the worse. (UI, looting, revving)

It's not about the speculation, I love the speculation! It's just that there's no reason to have three active thread about one subject around at once.

I like this.

Nice deduction. Since I don't follow any of the sites specifically, it's neat to see that they're playing witty teaser games with their update content.

Please continue to do so, devs. We appreciate it.

Let's see what SK Lore has in store for the skylark.

Wouldn't exactly call it genius Reto, multiple people discovered all of these and posted them as well.

Those images

It looks like a spaceship, but for me it also looks like a key.

Key... to open the core.

?

Can someone explain why this is significant? I haven't done a good job following the SK storyline.

If the ship had already crashed into Cradle, what can we expect from the full reveal of what the ship used to look like? Isn't this more or less eye candy for how the knights ended up on Cradle in the first place?

Guys. When the last piece of the puzzle is released, I might post the actualy complete image. And maybe even post what it is for...hmm. Is it against the ToS to reveal in-dev content after it has been more or less revealed in an akward fashion?

Oh wow. Nvm. Those images are part of the Skylark, which is used in the above intro to SK. It details the crash onto cradle, and shows escape pods jettisoning from the damaged Skylark. http://logunners.shivtr.com/forum_threads/1578144

@Wolfe-Knight

Given the color of the beams that hit the ship, my money's on the swarm having something to do with it.

And given the size of the explosion, I doubt the Skyward crashed. The phrase "blown into a million pieces" seems like a much better description. Spiral HQ must really optimistic if they think they'll be able to get the Skylark spaceworthy again. Building another ship would be easier at this point.

@Battlegrinder
I am just saying crashed because all accounts of the skylark before this say it crashed (so there might still be a large, albeit destroyed, piece of the skylark around somewhere). I dont think the swarm have anything to do with the lasers, their minds seem a lot more basic and forming a laser like that would require a intelligent being (though a intelligent swarm core would be a amazing thing to see).

@Arkate
The knights of Icky-Icky-Icky-Icky-Kapang-Zoop-Boing must have their shrubbery!

@Wolfe-Knight + in a part

@Wolfe-Knight + in a part Battlegrinder: Hohoho swarm very intelligent. They can't open to destroy their enemis: THE CORE. But us knight want to open the core. Yes we wanted to land on the planet already to get this enegy but I think that if qe didn't crashed on here we would have tough ''OMG this place will kill us all we'll find another power !'' So they make us crash to force us to take this energy to fly again get on our planet (Lol we don't even know the name of our home planet) AND KILL THOS B***** OF MORAIS ! But to do that we'll open the core and gest what...... SWARM. Swarm will infest the core like it's alway wanted to and all that because qe crashed. In a ''résumé'': DON'T OPEN THE CORE.
