Jelly run difficulty

Is the jelly palace run a bit to difficult to do with just 3* gear? I have a full team of fully decked out 3* gear knights, three of which have at least level 6+ on their gear, and we still get massacred. The ONLY time we have ever been able to pull this stage off is when we have someone with decently leveled 5* gear and are basically able to 3-4 hit everything.

Mind you, we are playing it on the lowest difficulty, with gear catered to our skill. Gunners use guns, swordman use sword and bombers use bombs. Everything goes to hell anyway, and it makes me wonder if this stage is actually meant for players with 4* gear, not 3*.

It's challenging if you are at the right level gear. Lower Gear is the game's "Hard Mode," & Higher Gear is just for farming. If you are playing on Normal & still get defeated easily, you should learn to get better.

What do you have as your Loadout(Helmet, Armor, Shield, etc.)?

Do you use Dash? Shield Bash?

I consistently use shield

I consistently use shield bash and dash to get away from getting killed, since the mobs do like 3 bars of health per hit, the bosses and heavies even more.

as the swordsman of the group, I use wolver gear, all level 10 3*, with a striker or cutter(forgot which is 3*) and an auto gun, that I never bother using, since it just makes me stand still to shoot. Thinking of butting a bomb instead of a gun or something. I use basic attacks and use the dash movement of the attack to hit and run, but when there are about 20 enemies, I'm bound to get knicked once or twice on my way around the fight, and like I said, that takes off anywhere between 2-4 health pips. I only get so many and I'm running out of sparks trying to farm my antigua.

Try using different Weapons. I would recommend the Calibur or Brandish Lines for Swords & the Blaster or Alchemer Lines for Guns.

striker is a good choice for Lumbers. get a shadow alchemer or some other shadow weapon though. even elemental works.
beware using striker, fall back as jelly start attacking, and to use it against lumbers you gotta avoid their line of sight.

maybe try

learn to strafe and lead / herd the monsters to where you want to kill them on the field.

you should probably craft either a skolver(pierce defense) or vog cub(fire defense) set as your 1st set of armor/helm. as for a sword, i recommend either a glacius(causes freeze) or a combuster(causes fire)...both from brandish line. as for gun, finish your autogun by making a blitz needle and as a 2nd gun i recommend a valiance(blaster line). this gear i have recommended will get you all the way through the rank missions, with decent partys, and their bonuses will come in very handy no matter which of these items you choose. later on you will want some shadow defense and a shivermist buster bomb never hurts, as well as having a polaris gun at your side.

make these as soon as possible. pass the rank missions. farm vanaduke a little and then get whatever your heart desires as far as equipment goes. hope this helps. btw, i have helped ppl become full 5* and pass their 1st Shadow Lair within 1 month's time with this advice. really all that's neccessary is a Glacius and Blitz needle...but the other stuff will prove helpful in the long run also, as will having a strong player help you in your partys for some missions. good luck!

perspective

Let's distinguish between the Royal Jelly fight and the rest of the Royal Jelly Palace.

I can do the first two levels of Royal Jelly Palace in 3-star gear without taking any damage at all, ever. How? I charge my sword (say, Calibur or Brandish) again and again. I also know all of the spawn points, and I'm not afraid to run over spike traps when the spikes are down. It just takes practice and patience. So consider this a friendly challenge --- something to aim for. (In fact, I can easily do the first two levels in 2-star gear, but I'm not sure that I've ever done them without taking any damage.)

The boss fight is a different story. There, I attack the boss as fast as possible, taking lots of damage, and healing as necessary. You want to enter the boss fight with 3 pills and 9 offensive vials, such as poison, curse, fire, shock, and stun. Keep the Royal Jelly suffering statuses all of the time, and never stop attacking him (except when he's pink).

Historical note: The boss fight used to be much, much harder. Around the time that Shadow Lairs were added to the game, RJ was nerfed.

Add Kaisu-Dragon.

Mention you posted on the forums in the mail. I'll provide assistance with runs.

It isn't intended to be incredibly hard. Snarbo is the 1 - 2 star boss, Jelly the 3, Roarmulus the 4, and Vanaduke the 5.

Since you are three star, Jelly is on your gear level. since you are not under, it will not be particularly hard (or is not intended to be) but since you are not over, it will not be particularly easy.

Play conservatively. fight as if you do not have a shield. Learn about shieldcancelling pausegunning (raise your shield before the last hit of your weapon combo -if not a bomb- to cancel the combo and regain the ability to move around / dodge/block ). you can read about it on the wiki.

If you add me, I'll run jelly with you shieldless and show you how to keep yourself out of harms way. taking damage should be rare or accidental, not part of the experience.
