Confusing. Latin root of crea would be- To create.
But then we get to the prefix of Apo-away from, not a part of.

This is slightly concerning me.

Yes.

The name could be referring to the fact that this entity is not natural or was not intentionally incorporated into the "creation" of cradle.

It could also mean that the entity exists out of the bounds of what those it preys on consider reality or natural.

Orrr it could be a reference to the corruptive study 'they' practice that seems to end life rather than enhance or create it.
