OK, OOO wants to make us immortal and every clone will be happy. But what about the other weapons? Compare CIV's damage to Acheron's damage... Dx
After the buff, I really don't want to use my Acheron because IT'S JUST TOO OP. With medium damage bonus at depth 27 it was dealing 407 normal damage (vs. Constructs) on the third hit, which means aBsOlUtElY NO CHALLENGE.
But why that buff? Why didn't OOO nerf the other Brandishes? Because they won't be powerful enough? It's too obvious and that buff is a mockery to all complaints about the OP-ness of the Brandishes. No balance.
Now there's what I expect from OOO, seeing their logic:
Acheron is buffed and shares the same damage as GF, so they will buff GF and DA (they're underpowered, right?!). Then they should give a med ASI to Chaos so SSs' users can swing faster. And why not an Iron Slug nerf? Who uses it? Logic-madness, it's the same, according to devs' reactions.
Even if some miracle happens and OOO balances the forgotten normal damage weapons, they'll just get buffed BUT what about the poor, nerfed Monsters who get killed in 2 swings?
OOO is trying to make things better... But it's not working. Unbalance is so widespread that a half-hearted attempt to fix it won't do anything. The problem goes right to the core of the game. To fix it, they would have to completely restructure the way the game is played.
They won't do that.
What they do is make an new item that makes an old item useless, then buff the old item,
then buff another old item that is rendered obsolete by the other old items buff...
(REPEAT PROCESS UNTIL EVERYONE QUITS THE GAME)
