I'm seeing more and more signatures in the subject lines lately. What's up with this?

Well, let's be honest, most people just put "0" in it to remove the subject line, or forget to put anything there at all.

It's certainly less annoying and more personalized than putting it at the bottom of your post. I don't think it impacts the post's size all too much, either!

I really dont mind it, I dont think anyone really uses it as a subject for their post anways. Some signature even have some fun stories behind them, and it is a lot less intrusive than having a giant image at the bottom of every post.

I ain't mad.

I'm not complaining about it. I was just wondering whether this is a new fad (for our forums) and why it's popular.

Yeah, I thought that was kind of one of the "hidden rules of Spiral Knights forums", you don't tell people how to remove the subject line...

I used to think putting stuff into the subject line was kinda messy (probably just because of the formatting though), and I always hated how it automatically took on the first few words of the post. But yeah, it is a lot neater than putting stuff at the end of your post. And people don't always read it, so it's not a good idea to put anything important in there.

Writing signatures

Well, you know these forums, someone probably started a trend.

Draycos said, "it's a secret no no one" maybe because he was referencing The Legend of Zelda. Either that or i have no idea. Although the line in zelda is, "it's a secret to everybody

Well, you can't really put an Image on a Post, but you can Link one.

Replace these "(,)" with these "<,>".

That's not very secretive. Hiding links inside links is a far more sneaky way to do it. Or just skip that altogether and leave it in the sauce. Sauce is the sneakiest way to do anything.

It's something I use a lot when I want to say secret stuff. It's like using a guild hall's trade channel. Not everyone joins it, so it's a nice way to say silly gossip and stuff.

Really, not that hard to hide/view.

check the link url, the image binary data is encoded in it. Checkmate people thinking they can't upload images to the forums.

As a bonus, it will show up only for logged in people. Surprised people haven't used this forum exploit yet to link non-http/https stuff links. Add a &action=logout for added hilarity.

We're doing this by using the logout page to forward to a different url, and the url we forward to is a data uri which actually represents data we're linking and is decoded as the media we're viewing. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_URI_scheme

Now we wait for the eventual data uri signatures to appear...

I always wonder how many $$ my signature would be worth, 2 cents at a time o.O

Lot of wasted money that I can tell, always throwing money at my screen!
