Anything that is extremely expensive and sold on in the depot that players would readily buy will increase CE prices. So yes, boxes do raise prices.

I'm with you in that the CE prices are raising at an astronomical rate and something should be done to lower them again. However, Taking out price boxes would be the same as removing content from the game for no apparent reason. Meaning that many players who complain about lack of content (me included) would just up and leave the game, and this would be a LARGE majority of the players base.
The only way to lower CE prices is to give players an incentive to use crowns instead of CE, so something should be done with the Auction House
1. Buy a bunch of CE before the holidays.
2. Wait.
3. Wait.
4. When the holiday arrives, sell all the CE for its boosted value.
5. All of it.
6. ???
7. Profit, for reals.
Can't say I agree, the holiday boxes are honestly the only things keeping people playing right now with all the bullcrap going on, what with the Radiant drought and the gunner update right around the corner.
