Cant login through new steam client

I cant login through new steam client and i have to use a PREINSTALLED steam client.
When i try to install a new steam client and installing the spiral knights game through steam i cant connect to my account
How can i login with the new steam client to my SK account?

I don't understand what do you mean by preinstalled steam client? Care to elaborate?
