As Bopp has told you
Items once were askew
So the devs went to it
And made the best fit
Now its all standard its true
I'm not an expert on this topic, but examining old versions of the wiki page suggests that Heater Shield had no precursors. It was a 5-star item that you crafted from scratch. The recipe was apparently
20 Red Shard
5 Scrap Metal
4 Monster Bone
3 Unstable Core
1 Meteor Mote
1 Blaze Pepper
1 Flame Soul
