I upgraded this laptop to Ubuntu 14.04 last weekend. Since then, if I talk to a merchant and mouse over his offerings, SK crashes trying to pop up the pict of his item.
Similarly if I hit 'P' to open the Equipment tab and then mouse over my gear, SK crashes trying to pop up the picts of my gear.
Edit: It doesn't seem to crash at the 1st item I look at. It crashes when popping up a 2nd item.
No such luck. This laptop only has the Mobile Intel GM45 Express graphics chipset, not the Nvidia card.
Edit: I went to Intel, followed the link that they provide to the Mesa drivers, and downloaded those. No difference that I can tell, though.
Edit 2: What's really odd is that the pop-ups from the Arsenel dialog don't crash. I would have thought those would use the same code.
Thats why my initial guess was driver handling java's layered 3D render.
If you move this thread to tech help and post the contents of the crash logs (found in the SK home directory) Helios is usually pretty good at resolving it.
My next guess would be some random library was not updated during the update. That log file might tell you which file needs updating.
Ubuntu tends to be finicky with video card drivers. If you're using an nvidia card, try switching to the nouveau driver instead of the nvidia distributed one. It seems to work better with java.
