Decided to condense the categories for reskins into one category of "reskins" (vs. smaller subcategories of shield/gun/sword etc. reskins). Tiny subcategories seem to confuse things in the long run.
On gear list pages, put reskins in their own lists. I figure this is helpful for collectors.
For the individual reskin pages, I've put the acquisition/alch path sections above the attacks/dmg sections, because I think this feels better. I won't touch non-reskin pages regarding this format, but I'd like to know what people think when the wiki updates. I've noticed that players are more concerned with how to get an item than they are about using it when it comes to aesthetics (which is basically what a reskin is), so that's why I'm trying this format for reskins. Information wanted is right at the top of the page - thoughts?
I like this format a lot because most things have acquisition at the top, or near the top, anyway. Like the beast scale page! I like using pages that I've never edited as examples to show that I'm not living in my own world. Which is usually where I'm living but nyah!
Removing bullets/bolds/italics where I see them used in weird ways (partially my past self's fault haha).
Can anyone think of a smooth, clean way to state that an item is a "reskin" right away on individual pages?
Options: BLAHBLAH is a BLAH-star [[Weapon]] reskin.
Could make a template similar to alchemy path that emphasizes reskin, but not sure. THIS IS A RESKIN should be obvious, IMO.
Any thoughts?
EDIT: did the basics for the sword reskins, will do the rest of the reskins later... If people want to help, just go to the category page for reskins, look at the subcategories (weapon, shield), and edit individual pages like the swords have been edited (described above- as always, changing "Vendors" to "Acquisition" and so on). You can also help by editing the reskins out of the main lists into their own lists on the shields/bombs/guns page, mimicking the format used on the Sword page. That is if you agree with this format ;P
I've stuck the Reskins category tag on icons for the reskinned battle sprites. I could pull that "trick" I did with the color theme category pages, but I don't like how potentially inconsistent that might turn out to be for things beyond color themes in the future. So, atm, the cat tag on the sprite icons is just a reminder that yes, battle sprites have a reskins too. Something to deal with later. I mentioned in another thread that I wouldn't mind giving the Battle Sprite skins their own pages, and that's one solution to this "problem."
EDIT: Made a thing! It's a reskin notification template. It will be obnoxiously obvious regarding individual reskin pages. I'll go ahead and add it to reskin pages, easily undone if people don't like it. The point of making this obvious is to let players know right away that they can get this game mechanic another way, as these items are typically pretty exclusive/limited and so on. It also helps for casual readers who use the "random page" function, though that's a very minor factor.
Using the Scissor Blades icon because I'm pretty sure it was the first reskin. It's also kinda funny because scissor blades are associated with Bechamel, and reskins are largely in the game for aesthetic or themed purposes, and Bechamel is really into them aesthetics. I giggle.
