I feel like this is pseudo-common event, and that I should know about it.
Just wanted to have some thoughts on it, was this brought up before? I did a quick search and found nothing on Google.

the "randomness" recipes that basil offers also includes the amount of recipes. He may sell more and less depending on his mood.

Actually...
If you are talking about selling recipes and NOT selling recipes,then this is how it happens : if you join a team that already left Start Area,Moorcroft Manor or Emberlight,you won't get any recipes from Basil.

Recipes still show as long as you were apart of the party before the start of the floor before the terminal, isn't it?

I'm vohtarak, call me by that name
if you join in the depth just before the terminal or the terminal itself you get no recipes
if you join in any other place they show up

I thought it looked like basil had more recipes actually O.o
