Heat needs more uses ever since the Battle Sprite update gave us the forge.
Before that, we could heat up our gear until it reached 10th level, so there was an incentive to getting as much heat as possible.
But after that, we need fire crystals to level up our weapons. The scarceness of fire crystals makes it hard to level up gear when it has enough heat, and when it's time for the weapon to level up, any excess heat is wasted, so heat quickly became useless.
This was the only way for Three Rings to balance out the free elevators they gave us, and I respect that, but now heat needs more uses, so we need to talk about different uses of heat that can be implemented into the game.

Here are some of my ideas:

-Excess heat be stored so that when it levels up, any heat that was in the weapon after it needed to level up would either:
A)be added to the it
OR
B)count towards a higher chance of bonuses, such as more weapon heat and forge prize box.

-Heat would fill a certain meter, depending on the floor(or maybe star level of armor), and when a meter fills up, the player would get fire crystals, the star level depending on which meter was filled up.

What are your ideas?

Hmm going to throw a few things out there

-the amount of excess heat collected on each level would add more percent chance to get a better item on the item wheel.
This would probably work on players who have all of the things though.

-Having the excess heat convert into extra crowns or health Regen

-or a heat perk system where you get a random buff for the next depth.

-a potential aspect for a high score system during an arcade run

-increases chances of critical attack in weapons, critical block in shield, or critical dmg reducer in armor. A random on of these is applied. I think it counts as a passive throughout the depth and cancels out afterwards.

I'd rather have excess heat be used to lower the forging cost. Probably with diminishing returns though, so you can't just make the cost 0 all the time by buying a few heat amplifiers.

I think there's potential in

I think there's potential in your idea, like a heat storage container, or perhaps some sort of Heat Condensor to transform the heat you get into fire crystals of the weapon/armor you're wearing. This automatically has diminishing returns because of increased crystal cost as your heat level gets higher on weapons and armor. To balance the free Fire crystals they might need to remove any 70% or 25% chance options for forging, but those were always bad choices (I think the 75-70% option is mathematically most cost effective, but that relies on perfect probability and infinite reproducibility. No one should lose 70 radiants that amount to 5 hours of in game time grinding wasted.)

Enough being silly. What if excess heat boosted your chances of getting rare equipment drops? I would like to see equipment dropping more often. It wouldn't even have to be that good, like 3* in T3

Traevelliath, I like your idea . I would love the to decrease the number of radiant crystals I'll use for each level. It'll make working my way up to the later depths more worth it.
