Let's not point fingers with twisted intents.
I am pretty sure the complaint goes toward the fact that Black Kats are so scarcely available in general despite having much more to offer than average players can afford to obtain in a single event sitting, not quite because of the wishful calls yet erronous judgement.

I'm pretty sure it's because of the simplicity of looking at how far apart the other events were and at max so far there were only 8 months between a BK event. But, I suppose people aren't looking elsewhere to see what other events could be actually happening soon or not too. And as Melonfish mentioned, for a junk ton of new knights that don't have access to any Kat armor at all, the event is very much wanted. I event want it to happen, and I'd be satisfied with getting a lot of meh items from it, as long as I get something with those tokens and such. But, at the same time, I suppose I'm not really one to complain about the fact that it hasn't happened yet either. I complain in general that OOO doesn't seem to love this game like they used to. I'm not sure why, whether it's because not well funded enough or what. But, i hope one day they return to the love they had for their project. :3

I feel like Three Rings loves Spiral Knights, seeing as they made an entirely new level set for (as of right now) a single mission. Hopefully we'll see more of it in the future, but still...
Black kats will be here whenever... Hopefully they've taken the community's thoughts into affect (in earlier events they did increase the rate the books of dark rituals dropped... And as of right now, the two biggest fixes would be allowing us to purchase books via tokens or taking the wicked whisker off of non-black kat armors) before releasing the event again, but hey - it's fun to me to grind for black kats, but it's not for others and I know exactly why.

Eh.
Nonna doesn't really come around too often. Black kats are far more frequent, and seeing as we haven't seen them in a while, they're not living up to the name of frequent.

Nonna isn't an event.
Winterfest is in winter (who would have thought?), dark harvest is in autumn. Sk b-day was in april, torto-s were in march and apocrea happened in january iirc.
So the next event will be bk-s.
Then again, we may get some promos before that.

They were right! The right timing for grinding!
Probably because there was 7 months between the first event and the second, the third event coming 8 months after that, and the fourth coming 5 months after that. It's been 8 months since then.
Basically, OOO has been completely random with when they release Katastrophe, and people are complaining that they tried to anticipate the randomness and failed.
