This commonly happens with Lichens as well, even ones that aren't able to ''merge'' together do this.
Another interesting thing is that Lichen Colonies attack Gun Puppy species, and even do damage to them. They attack other Lichen Colonies as well if I'm not mistaken.

What did you use besides CamStudio...
Would love to know what settings you used (Original Poster's Video) with CamStudio to get that high of a quality image.

I used default setting but I have video configuration on automatic, if you want to record smoother videos you can go into tools options>video>video configuration>manual then choose how many frames/sec you want. The higher the number the better but I believe if you put a ridiculous number your computer will lag like hell.
