Game installed on computer fine, but something isn't right...

Hey pardon to bother the forums again,
I recently got a new laptop, there for the first thing I had to install was Spiral Knights! I downloaded it just fine, ran it and made a knight (that I didn't save, the name was something neat, but alas, it's forgotten) and closed out of the game, you know just to see if it would run. I had forgotten that sometimes at the start of the recruit camp site more game files would be downloaded. When I open up the game next, it says "Downloading files..." with 1% downloaded and hundreds of minutes of estimated time. Usually the timers on anything downloaded are wrong with my internet.
There had been the opal update in the time since I had first launched the game, so I thought maybe the game updates got a new message on them. I waited for about half an hour and it said 8% completed with hundreds of minutes remaining. I shrugged it off and thought my internet was acting up again. I do have slower internet with a bandwidth cap, but game updates or even downloading the game doesn't exceed it. I closed out the download and tried again later.
I opened it again just now and the same "Downloading files..." thing pops up. I was wondering if I had to reinstall the game or if I had accidentally done something wrong upon the first launching of the game.
I have a Windows 10 laptop, please let me know if you need more specs or something. I know my internet is terrible, but I have re downloaded spiral knights before on my old Windows 8 laptop just fine with some minimal path issues. (Thanks for the help on that forums, I was going through withdrawals)
Thanks so much, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Sorry if I don't reply right away.
