Can we please stop with these mineral prize boxes?

As the title suggests. I honestly feel this trend should stop and i'll explain why. And before you say anything I dont hate the game or OOO and no Im not just one of those unproactive haters that just rant on things (though admittingly this is kind of a rant).

Ever sence the ruby/sapphire boxes (forgot what came first) every other new promo we've got have been recolors of the same things we've seen before in other boxes. Granted recolorings are nothing new but at least with those and most other times they also brought something entirly new with them to spice things up so it all just doesnt feel like clones of eachother. These however ARE just clones of eachother. heck, even the auras are all just clones of eachother with just a few minor tweeks. This not only just feels lazy to me but also just extreamly uninspired. And Im not just saying "stop with the prizeboxes" or whatever cause I know prize boxes have always and will always be a thing, Im just asking OOO to put a little more effort into them.

The stranger prize boxes for example are some of the best prizeboxes ive seen in a while. not only did it add all new designs, auras, ext. But it also brought alittle more attention to one of the more overlooked people on cradle despite them being our saviors. Not only that but it was one of the few to break this mineral trend Ive seen in a while. So back to the main point, the first 2-3 times we got mineral-themed boxes they were ok, but at this point they just feel lazy and uninspired.

So Im asking OOO to please stop this trend after the turquoise. And as I said in the beginning, I dont hate OOO, the devs, or spiral knights. I still find allot of joy in this game and I even sometimes look forward to the new prize boxes just to see whats good. it's just these mineral boxes should stay buried in the ground where you found them.

I'm wondering who their intended audience is if everyone is tired of these boxes.

The only thing I've heard is that there's like a dozen or so players who will buy any box and spend their spending limit every time. That means OOO's target is 1% of playerbase here spending 99% of the cash due to gambling issues, intentional or not.

i might just be slow, but i don't understand what you mean by that.

I'm gonna bet most of the people buying the promo are far and few, and they're spending an above average amount each time. There's a specific crowd of people that stays the same in game with unboxing for every promo, it's quite obvious.

Gem promos are relatively OK.

I think we need the Gem promo costumes to be reflective and/or faceted. It would make them more appealing to the eye, and tie in with the crystal theme.
Otherwise, it's a birthstone thing. Buy it or not, it's a yearly cycle, and it doesn't make sense to only put out a few months' Stones, and then just up and quit.

I agree with Lunatis

We've started birthstones. Before birthstones we had the statuses. Having a common theme allows us to plan around these promos, and since they're birthstones based on months, it should come as no surprise that they're here every month. Expect them to end after the yearly cycle is over.

I'm fine with promos being a reskin for two weeks, then something original the last two. Disguise box - gem - stranger box - gem... It's perfectly fine.

The concept is worn out for sure, but I highly doubt they're just up and stop the gemstones before covering every month appropriately. As a January baby that would be bad, because I already had plans on spending on the garnet prize box simply because I have money, like to support three rings, and hey, it's my birthday month!

Gem promos themselves are fine - great, even. Issue can be the color choices sometimes. Opal was kind of icky for my taste, but ruby was delicious.

if they want to make birthstone prize boxes thats ok, but the fact that literally no real creativity or uniqueness goes into them just doesnt settle well with me. at the very least give each one something cool to look forward to other then reskinned auras and colors that make disciple wings look admittingly less appealing.

Actually, the floating gems and the centered gems in the auras are unique.

And all the new colors of accessories like the disciple wings and gem crowns, which usually aren't seen often, are nice as well.

I actually think these are better the usual boxes I came to know before these.

I don't really mind.

I don't really mind. I don't expect OOO to come up with new armor models every 2 weeks.

I consider the gem series as a more of costumes for middle tier. People with some money but not a lot. The designs are mostly rehash but the colors are unique.

Lower tier are hallows, frosty, etc, which is the set im using. Coz ive spent my munny on expansion.

High tier rare and expensive should be few and unique in designs. Stuff like Recon and Equinox. Their promo are few and between.

Even now Citrines are slowly getting rarer, thus higher in prices and value.

middle tier? how can it be a middle tier in-between thing if it costs just as much as any other box?

hmmph

It would have been easy for OOO to make these far more appealing to the playerbase. Just add a slight reflective sheen to the gem sets and ta-da suddenly everyone would want them because they may be similar colors but they are distinctive just because of one little difference.

Middle tier isn't what it is. Its just a nickname I gave it.

As I also mentioned, they'll become high tier/more valuable as time passes. Since they get rarer.

The way I see it, if someone likes the color/sets offered, then they'll buy. Otherwise they won't bother.

Some people like me like the Peridot, so to me those are more valuable than Equinox set, which I don't really fancy. But I miss the sale, so I'm left with scrounging the AH for it.

A good thing these promos have done is create quite a few inter-theme bridges. For example, I have a vile costume set that I had no idea what to do with because I'm a yellow personal color and those three colors (green, purple, yellow) all clashed when together. Enter peridot promo - the bright green bridged the gap between yellow and green, allowing me to make a visually pleasing costume.

I'm sure many other of these sets bridge similar gaps - I can imagine turquoise bridging someone's slumber gap, or heck, even a cool/frosty costume gap.

True they have helped diversify the colors.... I just hoped for some new toys to play with (that aren't behind paywalls), you know something to keep the paying and free players coming back. Heck, I'd be satisfied if they released a single weapon line every 2 gem box dates.

Er

Expecting new toys from a promo box is a surefire way to be disappointed.

I mean, I'll be pretty happy if we get new craftable weapons, armors, shields, etc, but I won't really expect any of those unless they're straight up announced.

Not from the boxes themselves. Just a pinch of playable new stuff once in a while rather than a huge dump (like the GU).
