Shadow Lair Gang

Hello all,
It has come to my attention that I have not done a single shadow lair before. I feel bad because, well, I'm a vanguard and a vanguard who has not done a shadow lair before is not a true vanguard. What I'm looking for is a group of three people (1 of which has to have key because I don't have one) and that the person with the key gets to pick the shadow lair we go to. We will have to do this on a weekend because I have school and homework on weekdays. I just think it would be a fun thing to do for a group of people to go and defeat awesome monsters.
Please Leave your Knight name and what time and day you'll be available. You will have to be in haven because I won't be able to find you if you're on a mission, or you could just send me a friend request.
Thanks, I'm looking forward to this.
-Gus

Gonna think about it... not that i have a key tho' :)
But SL's are always fun ^^
I would use caution in venturing into the Shadow Lairs, 'cause they harbor very tough monsters the game has yet.
I don't know that loadout guides are made towards Shadow Lairs. Maybe someone should make them, so you could be more prepared to tackle them.

If you read the wiki page "Shadow Lair", you see that each Shadow Lair is accompanied by a brief explanation of the enemies and other threats, and brief recommendations for what kind of weapons and armor to bring.

Yes, shadow lairs are the hardest non-event bossfights, but I feel like everyone kind of knows that. Not to hate, thanks for the heads up.

Shadow lairs are pretty fun (first completion is always the best).
Don't be a freeloader though, nobody likes those. Pay your fair share of 450 E (easy to get as a vanguard), and have fun in the lair.

Shadow lairs are kind of outdated in terms of difficulty to be honest. The only reason we still see them as hard is because of the high entry cost, barring us from practicing them. Danger missions and dreams and nightmares are easily contenders for their "hardest" title, though all are really about the same in my eyes.

What's easy what's difficult, it all depends on your experience. For old farts like me, who have done sl-s like half a hundred times, they are slighty more challanging than an average t3 area.
But for players who have never been there, don't know what to do; and have only experienced the swarm from Dan and It came from below... it's gonna be a different case.
A the end of the day, it all comes down to experience: if you know what you are facing up against, you should have no problem. That's why fsc can be done with basically any gear - since we've all been there countless times.
@ Gustim
Idk how much you know about the sl-s, but if it's nothing, then you should watch some vids about, maybe read some guides. Don't jump blindly into one, or you may end up buring through your sols.

If you need someone as a guide for SLs, I can help out. Done all 4 of them numerous times before. If you're going for equipment crafting or want to start small in terms of SLs, definitely recommend doing Jelly Palace or Gloating Wildwood first.
My IGN is Midnight-Violet, and I'm available generally 4:00 - 10:00P.M PST Monday to Thursday, and free every other day. (Won't be available on 29th and 30th for family reazons.) Also just a quick warning, I'm usually low on funds so I may have some difficulty paying Key costs.

45000 crowns is not a huge amount of money to get together, if you really want to play an SL... Like casual 2 hours of Vana grinding. Or if you dont like committed grinding then just 3-4 hours of other levels tops.
Thanks, though, I was also referring to someone creating loadout guides for the Shadow Lairs. You're welcome to make them or place info in them if you like.

Yes, I've watched LOTS of SL videos, and I forgot to say that I would pay my share for the key, sorry if it looked like I was a freeloader. :P
@ Midnight-Violet Ok, I'll try to find you in haven by messaging you. My knight name is Gustim btw.

Some quick infos from Shadow Lairs how i know them:
Snarbee:
Status: poison can be really annoying for glasscannon characters, less annoying for tanky ppl with poison resist tho'.
Enemies: beasts and undeads with a few construct trees and silkwings. I'd say howlitzers and maybe the lumbers (can be dodged) are probably the biggest threats during levels.
Depths: probably the easiest among SL's. There are 1-2 places where you need to ring bells to stun and make the invulnerable Snarbees gone from battlefield. I'd suggest to prioratize that one during the battle.
Bossfight is harder stuff, since it pretty much can be random, or even bugged with the bell not stunning when it should. There will be 2 Snarbs and a respawning silkwing (try to get rid of that asap).
Jelly Queen:
Status: freeze can be a problem if you are in a pressure room with full of enemies and you are forced to stay idle :D
Enemies: slimes all the way every aspect and amount :D Plus some lumbers and silkwings again. Jelly towers and maybe the spiked jelly cubes are the most annoying ones (even so if they are respawning infinitely).
Depths: again not that hard for an SL veteran, probably harder than Snarb tho'. Just make sure you dont get hit by those Silversaps (ouch).
Bossfight is supereasy with the right weapons. As far as efficiency goes im mostly talking about Grim Repeater but Obsidian Edge or Acheron can do the work also . Just ignore everything and start to attack the boss with all you got immediately. Each phase should take just a few seconds... as i said supereasy. Side note: I have a hunch they didnt really think it through with that GR, did they? :)))
RT:
Status: fire and shock. Yeah... i know. Pretty tough, right?
Enemies: gremlins, consructs, quicksilver and oiler jellies. There are plenty of fearful enemies here. You name it. Quicksilvers and mechaknights probably the hardest attackers, but lets not forget those rocket and shocking gun puppies and the gremlin menders (who revives thwackers besides healing like crazy) too. So yeah. Plenty.
Depths: pretty hard. Especially the 1st level. Easily the hardest SL level in my opinion. It always seems to me that the 2nd level is easier. Maybe cuz the party gets the hang of it by then, or cuz you got the pod 21 if you are not unlucky (pray for it). But might be as simple as it is that the second floor is just flat out easier. Up to you to decide. Also as always in RT you really want to not screw your party members with random gate switching cuz it can mean death here pretty quickly. There is one tricky pressure room also where you need to switch a few times in order to make the horizontal flying rockets to reach their target ghost block. Make sure to do so, cuz unless that you are stuck there for eternety.
Bossfight: if you got there you can be relieved. Its just a little bit harder than a regular RT bossfight, cuz some retrodes are respawning now too. With an experienced RT bossfighter switching the gates it should not take long / be hard.
Vana:
Status: fire, curse. To be honest curse is annoying to catch and once you got it, you gotta do something about it, cant just sit down and wait it out. Either use a remedy or walk into the sacred place where you cure sprites. If you got some curse resist check what u can use among your weapons and inventory slots. But! Most of the times you can avoid getting cursed if you dodge carnavons. And they are probably the easiest monsters to dodge in the game besides lumbers. Fire is... well its Vana, there gotta be some burning, right? :)
Enemies: plenty undeads, few jellies and silkwings... pretty much regular vana monsters just with curse :) The hardest monsters are the additional big guys: deadnaughts and royal guards. They consistently occur in pressure rooms. Oh yeah gotta mention the beautiful respawning howlitzers too of course. The classic trojans will be also presented several times :) Be careful around them cuz in this SL they are the only ones who can cause a pretty strong shock by stomping the ground.
Depths: they are not as hard as you would think they are. Pressure rooms can be tough tho', thats for sure. More so, if you are not familiar with the spawns and waves. But if you take it slowly and rather carefully you can manage. Just make sure to use all the experience you got from FSC already. There are several little tricks regarding how to play this SL or how to make the pressure rooms easier. Mostly: totem carrying, moving and placing; running forward to break the wheel launchers; knowing the exact pattern of the rooms where and when the spawns will happen, where and where not to tread during battles. So it really helps if somone in the party knows about these and gives a little headsup beforehand.
Bossfight: harder but similar to a regular Vana bossfight. Some more big guys to spawn, which can cause havoc if you are not aware of them. The boss itself is immune to all low statuses, so for example using shiv wont block him.
After every bossfight in SL's there will be another depth to tackle: The Void. Its a strange level with annoying pixels floating around to block your view. Got 2 pressure rooms and a maze in between without minimap, so its a bit spicy :)
In the rooms you have to kill a certain amount of enemy to make the gates open in order to move forward. There will be some invincible towers shooting all the time and pretty much every type of monsters spawning (except fiends). Status what you can "catch" here sometimes is the poison cuz of slimes. When the last gate opens dont hesitate to run!
In the maze you really just dont want to stop and get hit randomly by something :) So constant and quick moving is advised. Also try to figure out the way the soonest you can!
Notice that unlike before in the SL you can always change gear in this level to your heart content!
If you got to the elevator here it leads right to the Sanctuary, YAY! :)
Some additional general tips:
-Spark of Life's ! You need them. At least 10 to be sure. If you are an absolute first timer in SL's make it 20!
-Always collect health capsules and remedies cuz you will need them badly. If you have surplus on the ground, note it to get it later if you are running out.
-Autogun families are pretty strong in SL's. Particularly: Blitz in Snarb and Vana, Grim Repeater in JQ and RT. You probably want to bring them.
-Status Bombs are quite helpful as utility crowd controll weapons in all SL's. They slow things down in pressure rooms and make it easier to breathe. You might want that ^^
-The magical pod 21. Always look out for it! When you pick it up the whole SL will become twice easier.
-Before you start the SL you probably want to farm out D19-D22. Trust me, you will have good use of those extra pod 9 (or 6), capsules and remedies. You can collect optionally other inventory too if you want, but those are the must have's.
-Be aware that stun status is existing in all SL's (like pretty much everywhere else in SK PvE :). You might wanna be careful about that.
-The swarm. In bossfights and in the void level there will be this creeping black stuff growing and slowing you down real hard. You need to attack its core in order to make it shrink and be small again. You can ignore it and just play around it, but it doesnt hurt to attack it from time to time :)
Aaaaand thats it. The bare minimum you want to know beforehand about SL's.
I'll write more if needed or something important comes into mind.
Cheers.

Idk, the Swarm seeds in my opinion are probably the most annoying part of the bosses as the speed reduction (it's almost like a perma stun) is quite detrimental. Especially in fights like these where dodging snarby or whatever boss attacks are quite important. Typically, you should have someone be on Swam seed duty.

Probably not a good thing to ignore it if you want to slowroll the bossfights :)
So unless youre used to it, its safe and good to attack it.
It only decreases players movement speed, not the attack tho, so thats an upside versus stun effects :)
On the other side, it boosts enemy monsters a bit.

You prolly know, buy you can practice the unknown passage at the rank 10-1 mission, It Came From Below.
Doing Dream and Nightmares can also help prepare, I guess.

Just a heads up, plans changed. Won't be available on the 23rd, possibly the 24th as well.
I would join but I don't have my Ashtail Set heated ):
