It seems Spiral Knights has had a sudden increase in players. Please, Grey Havens, take note of this and post some messages or something talking about new content on the way.

Keep in mind that these are only the steam users. We can't tell how many nonsteam players there are.
Very good point. There are users not only of the standalone SK client, but also other gaming sites. On the other hand, while we cannot judge the game based on Steam population alone, it still makes a somewhat good metric.
And I would agree that things are dwindling.

To be fair, the Spiral Knights population was never enormous to begin with, so saying a single platform having 800 active players "isn't much" is a bit unfair, historically speaking, when the "highest point ever" was just over 4,000 (on one platform).

Here you see that around the start of 2013 there's a huge spike and the population has been dropping off slowly ever since, with a small spike (surprisingly) around the end of 2016

I still play alot
I still play alot with my friends as well as newbs, i like to carry people through till around 3* and gift them a free 3* item of their choice
I dont think any free to play games ever truly die, there are some people out there who dont want to spend money on games. Also even though theres 800 players average this game is way past its prime.
